I really like this tune too. It does remind me of two people who were once close, makin up again as I just found out it was about Wendy & Lisa

I dig this song. Lyrics are a tad naff, but I like the bass solo.

Do you really want me to believe that they could not sue him for f---ing them over?

Levi tried to (at least).

The only shame is false assumptions without proof...

Now if I said that I've read and heard that W & L didn't want Jerome, Wally, and Brooks and possibly Miko involved with The Revolution, you would have a heart-attack!

This "detail" is discussed on Prince.org frequently.

Yeah, Prince may have hollered a them a few times, but he didn't just begin to do so at the end of 86.

They had a record deal already (by then). They were going to leave anyway...

Personally, I think the song is once final attempt to ask for a reunion of The Revolution in 1996.

Whatever happened before is linked to his attempt to reform The Revolution during the 1990's.

Nice try.

In This Bed I Scream was not an attempt to reform The Revolution. It was his way of saying he was sorry for the way he treated Wendy, Susannah and Lisa. You can't forget that first and foremost he was FRIENDS with them, not just a boss. That songs speaks way more of "I'm sorry for hurting you" then it was "Hey, let's start the old band up again." He had at one time asked them to work on that song with him, so he sent it to them, they suggested some ideas, and he never contacted them again about it. Wendy and Lisa and Prince all really seem to want to work together again but their schedules and current musical directions just haven't crossed paths. Like Wendy said "Lisa and I have been open to do something with Prince for years." I will say that part of the problem a few years ago was that Prince wanted to rehash the old stuff, and the girls wanted to start fresh. I would prefer their way actually, why go and update the Revolution vault tracks when the 3 of them could lock themselves in the studio and see what would happen. I know the day will come when the 3 of them share a stage together again. And I pray that I'm there to witness it, I have been waiting for that for about 17 years now.

No doubt, Prince has felt that he has done something wrong, or he would not have created the song.

They've probably listened to it enough. They've answered no questions regarding the song (to my knowledge).

What they chose to do is their business.

It's my opinion that they may have waited too late for a public reunion.

Larry Graham (you guy's nemesis) joined The NPG. "Big Brother" supposedly influenced Prince's spiritual enlightenment.

Prince's new beliefs probably won't "mesh" well with Wendy & Lisa's lifestyle.

The window is closed forever more...

They are still friends and if the Gay lifestyle don't mesh with Prince then he doesn't derserve their talent or their friendship (and a big chunk of his fans). However it hasn't stopped him from working with Ani DeFranco or jamming with MeShel so I don't really think he cares. In the Beautiful Strange video interview with Scary Spice they played the "say the first thing that comes to your mind". She said "Sexuality" and he said "Spirituality", so I think he's a lot smarter than that. (I hope)

This subject is old-hat, and I usually ignore it, but I'll chime in this time...

Despite the fact where there's smoke there's fire, I totally believe the line that Prince fucked Wendy and Lisa over not only from a business but a friendship standpoint, and "In This Bed I Scream" is his (rather punkish) way of saying sorry. (Although I love the song!)

From all I've heard, Wendy and Lisa HAVE totally been open to working with Prince -- if he simply asks them AND puts his ass where his mouth is. I too have read he forwarded "In This Bed..." to them for their creative input, then never got back in touch with them after they responded. If that's true, it sounds like classic Prince behavior and shows how much he truly thinks both of reconciliation and other people's time and energy.

I'd sell my hair to see the three work together again, but I'd never share my time with an ex-friend,let alone ex-boss, who still hadn't learned to show me the respect I'm sure he considers himself worthy of.

Just what do the Jehovah's Witnesses preach about homosexuality?

They don't even like people drinking coffee, do they? So God knows what they have to say about lesbo-minge-munching.

But you do know that that's just speculation, right? You wasn't there. In such situations, usually Prince is considered the asshole.
