Songs which are precursors to later songs

Listening to 'Sexual Suicide'(86) yesterday, I found the bass line at the end sounds quite similar to 'Hot Thing' (87). Can you think of other songs which foreshadow later songs?

"International Lover" feels like a precursor to "Temptation".

"I Know" feels like a precursor to "We Can Funk".

"Scandalous" feels like a precursor to "Insatiable".

"Cream" feels like a precursor to "Baby Knows".

eek

You know very well 'Eye No' was first 'The Ball' and was recorded in 1986.

And WCF was released in 90 but was first tracked in 83. It was drastically redone by 86 but still the 83 version was the one reworked for release.

So how can be 'Eye No' a precursor to a song written earlier...?

lol

But you must agree that The Ball is not the same song as I No, and that the first version of We can Funk is probably not 100% the same as the released version.

The Ball was directly turned into Eye No. He only changed the lyrics and some instrumentations. The melody line and backing chords are virtually the same.

And I said it was the original 1983 WCF and not the 1986 (much better) version the one which was reworked for inclusion on GB. Hence why it's not 100% the same.

Unfortunately, we only have a shit-sounding 3:18 file of the original 83 version, but basically it does seem to be the same song which appeared on GB.
