This is an old article from 2009.. Don't know if it was ever posted... (Prince with a Just My Imagination mention)...

I read the list on another site and there was ALOT of Prince bashing going on. There were people even claiming that Prince couldnt play the guitar and that there were "thousands" of better guitarists. I guess the metal heads cannot appreciate a fantastic guitarist like Prince

But isn’t it cute how those kids think that because it took them a good year to learn to noodle arpeggios up and down the neck real fast that only noodling is really hard?

Well yes i suppose they think playing the guitar really fast is the only aspect of a great guitarist.

Anyway its nice to see thaty atleast the experts are giving Prince credit as a guitarist. He deserves it.

That's the problem. Either you got to play very fast and be a metal guitarist. Or you have to play jazz with wierd chords and techniques for the geeks. Last but not least we have the average Joe looking guitar players that is better than all their friends. They get cred for being down to earth and not bragging or something like that.

Being black or white, straight or gay, man or woman, high heels or sneakers, high pitched falsetto or deep dominant voice, dressed in colorful clothing, feminine and masculine, being so short and cocky, making some of the cutest pop songs like Rasperry Beret... you really think all this wannabe masculine hard rockers wants to appreciate Prince as a great guitar player?

Prince should be mentioned on these lists way more than he is, and should place alot higher than he usually does, too.

I think the fact that he doesn't have a stereotypical guitarist/rocker image, is why they tend to over look him. *eyeroll*

god+guitar=prince.

there's so many layers to the man's talent that the guitar work gets overlooked, especially by a bunch of dudes who, can't touch prince in any other way. ever.
