Aging

Its no fun but it happens to all of us at some point - we all gets old.

Horrid though it is to contemplate what do you think will go first his hearing or his playing due to arthitus (I know I can't spell) in his hands.

I am kind of surprised he has such good hearing since he is always making music and that is well known to damage your ears - I think losing his hearing would be worse cos maybe then he wouldn't make such music although he could still play deaf - like Beethoven

intersting ?

He let Tony M record with him, and then on two tours, so it is obvious that his ears went a long time ago. He's still the best though. My second fave, U2 never let anything that absurd in their music, but Prince is still light years beyond anything they could accomplish.

U2 are irrelevant because they dodge tax.

It is obvious that you hang out with the wrong men. lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

And yes, Prince pays taxes late.

Paying taxes late does have a certain affect on society that can trickle down to affect the common average everyday Joe. Prince simply does not pay bills that have put several small companies on the edge of bankruptcy, and has even ended the business career of a few small businessman, who had to accept settlements of pennies on the dollar, since Prince blows every dollar he has ever earned on lunacy.

U2 have done some shady things in regards to taxes, but the amount of money they have given to countless charity is amazing. As a superfan of both, I tend to be biased towards Prince, but when it comes to money, and ethics, U2 would be my hands down choice. If we were talking musical talent, I think Prince is Light Years beyond them or anybody else alive. U2 may have moved the taxable part of their business out of Ireland, but whatever community receives their tax bill does not get it late...

Not to mention: Prince has spent tons of time in Minneapolis in the last 15 years. Despite a few moments in Spain, Los Angeles, New York, and other places, he still has spent a ton of time in Minneapolis. U2 have spent a lot of time in Italy, France, and Morocco. Not to mention, their current tour has been going on since 2009, and will have made nearly $860 million. Split that 4 ways, and each member of U2 by themselves have more pre-tax than Prince alone.

Of course, it doesn't have to be that way. Prince could be more popular, and actually make smart business decisions...but he chooses to water his career down with poor choices, and refuses to spend money on proper Management, and has nothing but yes men around him. My dream was to work with him up until I turned 30. By then I was smart enough or dumb enough to know that he would fire me after day one. The moment I talked to him about opening the valut, he would start laughing.

i like u2 as well its funny you should mention them because although they are roughly the same age as prince their albums are still pretty good, i got their cd no line on the horizon and its great, whereas princes latest offerings have been embarrassing to say the least.

U2 also releases a lot less music...meaning they have a tighter filter on what goes on an album. Also, they have large gaps of time in between albums. They play the major label release/tour cycle to it's full advantage.

That said, Bono and The Edge's rep might take a hit if the Spider-Man play tanks hard enough.
