1994 DAT promo tape question (for Prince specialists)

Hi y'all, I just dowloaded the recent "remaster" of the infamous 1994 DAT and 3 things are quite bothering me:

1/ They say that it's taken from a radio broadcast and that they added "Poem" ("Orgasm") because it wasn't broadcast BUT included on the original (lost) promo tapes. I've never heard of this, where does the info come from? Was "Poem" broadcast on at least one of the radio channels who used the tape or botcotted by all of them?

2/ Is it the exact same version of "Poem" that was included here, on the Beautiful Experience video and on the German "Come" promo CD single? If not how many versions and what are the differences?

3/ The intro of "Interactive" doesn't feature the NPG Operator intro here, and that's REALLY weird, particularly since it features the "That was just an exemple..." break. Could it be that Prince omitted it, or is it just the bootleggers who forgot to add it? I'll add that IIRC, my own copy of one of these radio broadcasts back then HAD the NPG Operator intro.

Thanks 4 ur help.

If it's a direct copy of the DAT tape, it's not a remaster, it's just the actual digital files that Prince handed over to play... like a CD, but on tape. At least I hope it's a direct copy!

It's not, they write on the liner notes that it's from a radio broadcast, hence the reconstruction of (and my doubts about) Interactive's intro (fading out another song in the original broadcast) and the inclusion of Poem (taken from the "Now" bootleg). They just remastered the whole thing. I don't think any original copy of the DAT survived.

databank: DATs from that era are still playable when stored properly.

I think everything is explained in detail in the liner notes of this release:

On March and April 94, some European radio stations played a string of previously unreleased tracks that they'd got on a DAT tape from Paisley Park. This is a digital transfer of the broadcast, from DigiTuner to DAT and optical to computer.

Work done on the tape was the following:

-The first few bars of Interactive had which most probably was the ending of the previously aired song crossfaded over them, so those were lifted off the "Now" bootleg; but they had to be retouched (denoising, pitch correction, and some volume and EQ tweaking) to match the sound on the tape, so that the source shift was seamless.

-Poem was added since it was left off the broadcast. It was sourced from "Work it" with the obvious adjustments to make it sound similar to the rest of the tracks.

-Two dozen digital glitches were manually removed, and background noise was minimized.

- Finally, the source sounded like it was still un-mastered. Therefore, an actual mastering was done. This included overall audio warming with valve processors, multiband compression, EQ, panning and track-by-track volume correction.

Now Enfant Terrible and 4DaFunk joint-ventured to bring you the closest thing to that original tape with a sound and editing quality in line with today's standards.

Yes it is, i just wanted to check about "Poem" because scififilmnerd doesn't mention it in the tracklist on his Ultimate Gold thread (http://prince.org/msg/7/318315) and he's not the kinda guy to forget something, and about that "Interactive" intro because I'm almost 100% positive that the NPG Operator intro was there (and scififilmnerd confirms it in his thread).
