But I don't see any reason why Mani shouldn't have sat through the part where he received a Lifetime Achievement Award, anyway. She was a fan of the man for years before she married him and she WAS married to him.

I hope this isn't true. So what if Eric and Manuela are in the same room with Prince. That would be an complete act of immaturity on Prince's part. He's too damn old to act like that. Eric didn't steal Manuela from him. So there shouldn't be any animosity, unless Prince wants Manuela back and she rejected him for Eric. I don't think that's the case, either. Besides, Prince probably brought a date, anyway. He wouldn't have the time or need to focus on anyone else in attendence.

Prince shut R&B crooner Eric Benet out of the Essence Black Women in Music pre-Grammy event in Hollywood because Benet is engaged to his ex-wife, Manuela Testolini, sources told Page Six.

The event Tuesday night at Playhouse in Hollywood honored Grammy-nominated singer Janelle Monae. Benet, who was married to Halle Berry, was disinvited once Prince was expected as a special guest. Organizers believed it was because Prince didn't want to be in the company of his ex.

Prince married Testolini, an entrepreneur who also used to work for his charities, in 2001, after he divorced his first wife, backup dancer Mayte Garcia.

The "Purple Rain" rocker and Testolini were married for five years until she filed for divorce in 2006. At the time, Prince's lawyer, Patrick Cousins, told People magazine: "This isn't something that he wanted . . . He didn't countersue. He is just trying to get it resolved."

Benet was married to Berry from 2001 to 2003, but the couple split amid rumors he cheated on the Oscar-winning actress, which he later denied. Testolini started dating Benet in 2008, and in November, Benet proposed to her by singing a song he'd written, "Never Want to Live Without You."

Twice-married Prince has been linked to a series of women over the years, including Kim Basinger, Madonna and Carmen Electra. His first wife, Garcia, described him in a 2006 interview as "a bit controlling." He has most recently been linked to ballerina Misty Copeland, who performs in his shows.

Others at the Essence magazine event included Sean "Diddy" Combs -- also reportedly cold-shouldered by Prince, who seemed unfriendly when Combs went to shake his hand -- Cee Lo Green and Joy Bryant. Monae performed four songs at the event, including her hit "Tightrope" with OutKast rapper Big Boi.

Reps for Prince, Benet and Essence all declined to comment.

As far as Mani appearing at the BET awards, I can totally see her going just so P could see her with Eric. She can go wherever she likes but why bother?

I thought that too, until, I joined here and read some of these comments. It like some orgers believe that sun rises and set in accordance to Prince's wishes. Don't get me wrong, I consider Prince one of the best, but GOTDAMN folks. Dude doesn't have that much pull.

Alright, here are my thoughts after reading the article and the comments on this thread

First, I have to chuckle a bit at the "...Prince married Testolini, an entrepreneur who also used to work for his charities, in 2001, after he divorced his first wife..." Oh my, how lofty! I've read similar descriptions of Mani before and it always makes me wonder how much of an "entrepreneur" she'd be now without being connected to Prince and to his bank account. Although, to give credit where credit is due, she did show dedication and vision when she up and moved all the way to Minnesota to realize her fantasy of snagging Prince, so perhaps she does have it in her to have accomplished something (?) on her own even had she not become Mrs. Nelson.

As for the article and what it alleges: I think Prince is a good person but I also think he's not perfect and he appears (to me) to have shown a propensity to be a bit immature sometimes involving relationships. So yeah, I would totally believe he'd do what this article claims (not saying the article is truth, just saying I could see it being true). HOWEVER, I don't think him doing something like that necessarily proves a passionate burning resentment on Prince's part towards Mani and Eric either. Some may disagree, but Prince seems to me to be the type to sometimes indulge in power plays when an opportunity arises, and for not much greater reason than to show the person/s he has 'more power' than they. What I mean is I dont' think he's so torn up and angry that he stays up nights scheming and plotting revenge against anybody, or fuming about what happened in the past - in this case, with Mani and by extension, Eric - but hey if a chance happened to present itself that allowed him to annoy them as a couple and indirectly stick it to Mani, I believe he might take advantage of that opportunity, smirk for a moment about it, and then move on and not even think of it again.

My father hates my stepfather yet my daughter's father in law and step father in law are best mates. They go on fishing trips together and all sorts.

I guess some people are just lucky the way things turn out. Very difficult for there to be no animosity when people's hearts get broken.
