Terence, in my opinion is the greatest superstar who never was. I think a combination of things sidelined his status permanently. I think that his second album Neither Fish Nor Flesh was just too big a leap to make for his second album, way too much to expect any fan base to follow him. I think it is a feast for the ears though and way better than his first album in every way. His mouth, the muhammad ali school of promotion which worked for boxing but not for music, in boxing, they'll watch hoping you get killed, in music they'll just not buy your album, different, he never got that. Also, by the time of the forgotten masterpiece, syphony or damn, all the 80's stars were being trounced by grunge and hip hop, his timing was just bad. i saw him live and as far as singing, he sang better than anyone i'd ever heard live although he had an inexplicable habit of constantly singing off key, never figured that out. One of the best singers who couldn't stay in tune, ironic. I write to him on myspace and he's one of the few who respond. Haven't really been caught by much of his recent music so I haven't listened to much. An amazing talent on the whole as songwriter,arranger etc.., I was always under the impression he had natural singing talent but didn't really pick up instruments until his later 20's, that in itself is remarkable, believe me, I was 23 before I really got serious about piano and I've never really been able to master it. Older players have to work harder for less and that's a sign of character.

I agree Dorothy. Male collabo aint his niche but larry graham, lenny kravitz? Anyway Terence is a great singer.

I like terence's albums especially fish nor flesh and Symphony or damn is as great a masterpiece as sign o the times 2 me! Thanks 4 responding I enjoyed the read

TTD has never hidden his appreciation of Prince and makes music in avery similar vein... though with a touch more 'Detroit' in his music. TTD operates out a website now, if I remember correctly, and makes money in this way just like Prince used to.

TTD is a superb singer/songwriter... a touch crazy... but a man who always makes interesting music. Neither Fish Nor Flesh was bizarrely brilliant. The last album of his I got, Wild Card, is great. Real music by real muscians... simple as that really.

I never understand the negativity that the TTD name provokes around here.

wilcard is the bomb. u guys need 2 pick it up really different. fish nor flesh was great 2. but wild card had so many styles and very very well written songs no shit.
