Prince stays with the Revolution and marries Susannah...

Let's say, Prince is sitting in his throne in 1986 and he's contemplating kicking Lisa and Wendy's ass out of the band and breaking things off for good with Susannah. After sipping a glass of brandy and contemplating the "what if's" he decides against it. He decides that the musical chemistry Wendy and Lisa bring about in the Revolution is too great for any ego trips to get in the way. He also decides that, while leaving Susannah in the dust would yield a TON of pussy in the coming years (he's a star now after all), it wouldn't mean shit if in 35 years (er, 2011) he was still chasing the same 20-something pussy and trying to please his fans instead of following his muse and challenging his audience and himself. So he decides to keep Wendy and Lisa in the fold, whilst keeping the Revolution in tact. And he decides to marry Susannah and have a family that he can grow old with while making great music for a long time.

Cut to: 2011. Prince is still married to Susannah. The Revolution is about to embark on another sold out stadium tour that will be a mix of hits from the 80's (much of what Prince does anyway) and new shit (that may or may not be better than Prince's solo new shit, also much of what Prince does anyway).

Now, fellow orgers, fill in the blanks from the time he kept the Revolution together in 84 and got married to now...

I wish u heaven

It was actually Susannah that broke things off for good with Prince. He wanted her as his Private Joy

uggggh, I could have lived without all of that ^^^

I think about the music being made in 1986 that was just on the peak of going to another level

Dream Factory, Roadhouse Garden

Our Dreams, Go, Splash, Power Fantastic, Make Yo Momma Happy, Last Heart, Wonderful Ass, Visions, In a Large Room with No Lights, Movie Star, Witness 4 the Prosecution, the Camille music, Sign o the Times, the Ballad of Dorothy Parker, It, Forever in My Life, Strange Relationships, the Cross, ICNTTPofYour Man, Roadhouse Garden, Teacher Teacher, Sexual Suicide, Crystal Ball, All My Dreams, music from the Black album, the load of instrumentals created along the lines of Alexi de Paris, the Flesh/Junk Music

Sheila E & Jill Jones would have still be featured proteges, maybe even Madhouse Mazarati could have been kicked up another notch

Prince's 1980's greatness would have increased

Well, with Sussanah as queen, Prince will have heirs to leave his court to. And plus he'll have a woman to kind of govern his erratic decisions. That's the only good thing I see about it.

But no Diamonds & Pearls? No Gold Experience? No proof that Prince can still get people and sell out stadiums with having a dark past as a seemingly-lost-his-mind musician?

No more varying love songs and ballads because Prince is stuck w/ the same woman and their same sex experience (hence, the purpose of the song, "New Position" in 86')

Well, time to bring out the ol scale and weigh the benefits of possibilities and realities

[Edited 2/10/11 6:30am]

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

But there would be a new level of maturity that would come out of the music, because the hiphop trials and overt raunch of a lot of his 90's music was just embarrasing to me.

Doesn't mean certain songs would still not have been created. But we would not have to deal with the Game Boyz in our Prince vision. And Prince's Paisley Park seclusion wouldn't have happened, he would most likely have more 'human' experiences, not having encountered Carmen Electra

IMO the record companie would have pressured prince to go into hiphop anyway

I also dont think Dream Factory would be commercially as big as Sign because it didnt have U Got the Look, a commercial song in it. And probably no Lovesexy either.

Personally speaking, I wish Prince all the happiness in the world and if he would have married Susannah or not, I do not 'really' care about.

Now, the MUSIC is something I care about.

Considering that I have most of the un-released stuff, there would have been no 'guarantee' that any of this would have came out but, wishful thinking I could easily say, that a lot of this music would have surfaced and we would include it in our collection and perhaps would have seen more touring of so said music, which would be great and welcomed.

thumbs up

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

We can't necessarily say that would be the case. Unless, you're going with Susannah would have had more control over her pregnancy and said fuck you when Prince would tell her that she couldn't seek professional assistance and eat what she wanted, when she wanted. Maybe, it's Prince who can't produce healthy kids. And there's really no surefire way to know which one (Prince or Mayte) had the faulty genes, if it was just a one time mishap, or whatever the case may be.

^^^ that's what I'm talking about

I know this is just a fantasy thread, so I like playing with it lol

But you know if say an album came out with Go, Splash, Wonderful Ass, Roadhouse Garden... talk about long versions and B-sides, videos and other songs created that would accompany the album, what would the protege albums be... and the music ...

Similar to the Black album, I always wonder what that period would have been like: videos, the look, impromtu shows, what back material would have been pulled out to play along with these songs etc etc

I'll agree with that too.

Mostly it's some overt religious expression...

and with others it's a about the actual music

Prince marries Susannah in 1986. Revolution stays together (or at least Wendy & Lisa stay with him). Dream Factory is released.

Prince and Susannah divorce in late 1987. Revolution fired. Camille replaces the Black Album (or not) as the album to be released and quickly cancels and everything else happens exactly the way it did, except he'd have 3 ex-wives instead of 2. shrug

We don't know what in life can cause a change in a person, Prince is no different.

Many people said he would never even get married, and he did twice

that's life, not just because Prince can't

we don't know how long he would have stayed married to either.

Did the loss of the baby add stress on the marriage that led to the breakup? Stuff like that does happen in marriages.

And what was the reason Prince and the 2nd wife divorced? Was he cheating on her and just couldn't stick with her? or was it something else? Was it her in actuality?

Look, Prince and Susannah could barely even date each other and kept breaking up. You think that would change if they got married? It would have been even shorter than the other two because she entered the relationship with her own ideas and her own personality. The two he did marry had to develop those things in order to get the hell out.

I did. the OP asked to fill in the blanks and I did. my timeline ends at 1987, though biggrin

I'm not going to say that was what the original poster is is

If that's the case we could say the same about Prince and some of the concepts he comes up with in his music
