no i dont agree .. mp3s and digital have pretty much ruined the entire music industry .. the fact is that music in and of itself has gotten worse too .. i still cant believe people listen to music on their phones .. for someone like prince who supposedly plays real music for real music lovers the best thing he could do right now is put out a physical single with music on it that is worthy of being on a physical single. it costs more to promote music this way. any dipshit with a keyboard can make an mp3 and post it these days .. the time is now to reclaim the music marketing system by making a product that is worth purchasing .. a physical single with a cool b-side and both should be very good songs. most club djs that dont totally suck prefer vinyl as do most music consumers who arent still in high school. there is a solid fan base for vinyl and all it really takes is a good song. mp3s must die. it is essential for prince to return to form with a solid song and a physical single with a very cool b side

he can put out all of the singles he wants. but where the hell can you even buy them except online? i don't think i've seen a physical single at any store that sells music in the last 5 years.

singles have always been loss leaders. for what's on them, they're expensive to press, package and distribute for the price.

mp3's and iTunes have actually brought the single back to life.

there are tons of vinyl shops still, they all have singles .. its those horrid box stores that don't .. stop supporting them and start supporting small record shops .. itunes just turned the single into a cheaper and more sound degraded product .. its perfect for teenagers, young teenagers, but not for people who want something more than bubble gum

I agree 100%. I was looking for a Burger King and could not find one. I was too busy getting lost looking at all the Vinyl shops. My girlfriend wanted to get some new shoes, but all we kept running into was Vinyl shops. We even wanted to buy some new cds, and all the cd store had were Singles, maybe thousands of them. Cd Singles, Vinyl Singles, Old VHS Video Singles like Sexy MF. There were singles everywhere, but we couldn't find a Wendy's to get a single with cheese.

Ok, not sure where Trevor lives, but Other than buying my copy of U2's Wide Awake In Europe, I didn't even know we had a Vinyl store in the area of 2 million people I live within. When I got my copy of the U2 record and told friends about it...they were like...I thought they only made records for rap and club DJ's on some kind of special order.

ha ha but really now .. wouldn't it be great if there were so many vinyl shops that burger king went out of business .. u could hear real music with all its frequencies intact and save ur life by not eating those engine oil drenched steroid injected abused ground animal parts they call burgers ..

but seriously, i live in vermont and there are at least 3 record shops downtown .. they carry new and used records and i know of a couple more a few towns over ..

here is a hint .. try looking somewhere other than the mall .. most cities will have a small record store or 10 tucked away in some corner or basement .. obviously they dont have the sales to rent a spot in the mall but seriously .. if you want the good stuff u have to try a little harder .. if all else fails you can order vinyl online and find rare vinyl too

vitriol

Given the crap he's been releasing since 2004 I think it's pointless that he releases anything at all.

He should take a break, think it over and come back with a really strong album, high quality music, not Beyoncé-like crap.

Unless he decides to release UNTOUCHED vault items, which won't be happening.

In any case, I still prefer physical cds. Downloads are mostly intended for brainless youngsters who listen to Prince for a fortnight and then change to the next Lady Caca.
