Who the hell is Howard Stern anyway. Didn't Prince have someone else on stage before her that danced so what she thought she was just going to come on stage and just try to look pretty.

He calls his fans assholes... big deal.
TMZ mentions the Stern show at least once a week. Kimmel and Letterman would have him on every day if they could.
The only people Howard treats like crap are the people who work on the show. The only thing he has no tolerance for are women who take their clothes off in a magazine that get uptight about it when they're on the show. He tries to find a way for them to be interesting, or have an interesting back story. Of course, he does contests, but even on other radio shows, if someone is desperate to win a prize, how far will they actually go? It might be exploiting them, but they're choosing to do it.
Most humor is done at the expense of someone else. I'm sure Prince has done things in his life that people thought were mean-spirited, he found funny, and played his share of practical jokes.

There is alot of things that i could say about Howard Sterns opinion, i choose not to, but what i will say is when PRINCE COMES TO LAS VEGAS, he is not under a microscope by his actions, He comes and goes all the time and its not BREAKING NEWS, I feel if Kim did not want to party she should have not come on the stage. But now Prince is just out of line for that, right , really, .... DONT GET ON THE STAGE IF U DID NOT COME TO PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pray Daily!!!!! RIP AMY WINEHOUSE Keep Calm, Carry on

Stern is a typical IGNORANT NOO YAWKER. Never bothers to get the facts on anything he bitches about. Makes an ass out of himself daily. America would be better off without this big-nose loser.

Nice that Howard got some attention, he used to be really good at that. Cool that somebody ripped Prince in public, it needs to happen more often. But as is often the case with Howard, while I agree with some of his sentiment, I don't agree with all of his vocabulary choices, or that he makes it so personal.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don't even like New York and I know that this nonsense is just as hateful, if not more, than anything Howard said. Probably best I don't read the rest of this thread.

Like Prince gets any facts before he goes off on one of his quasi-religious/political tangents in an interview.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Doesn't Prince alway get ripped in public? People hate Prince.
But I really am curious about you saying "while I agree with some of his sentiment".
What do you agree with in Howard's recent rant? I'm just curious to hear your opinion. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

No. Prince doesn't always get ripped in public. In fact, Prince gets mad love in public most of the time these days if thats what you choose to focus on. I can't even remember the last time anybody with any kind of audience said a bad word about the guy.
I think I've made my opinions on Prince's music business decisions (the distribution of his music and his recent "touring") of late perfectly clear. Howard went too far (as he usually does) with his choice of words, but a lot of the sentiment behind what he said is spot on. Also, that ain't the first time somebody has mentioned Prince being rude, frustrated, whatever, because somebody else wasn't able to read his mind. Not even close. Lastly, do you really think any of this was accidental on Prince's part? You think he would have brought a casual fan on stage and done the same thing to them? I don't.

^ Wasn't the girl who danced just before kim a casual fan?..He told her to get off as well for being "to sexy".
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No clue. And I don't think thats the same thing at all.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
All in all though I dont see why it's necessary to bring up Prince's past, present or future transgressions....Howard called him whatt he did for the so called "humiliating" thing he did to Kim which is far from the truth.
This is the same guy who called Gabby Sidibe, and I paraphrase "The most enormous fat black chick he had ever seen pretending to be a part of show buisness and she would never be in another movie"
Yea he's a class act alright

Maybe you haven't seen the same clip I have, but he did kick off a casual fan right before her, its seemed like the joke is that he invites someone on stage and let's them do their thing and then jokingly kicks them off. She just made it even more quick and funny because she froze up. Kim Cardassian nor Prince was in any way serious or hurt or angry. She was up on stage later dancing as well. Check her twitter for a first hand account.
According to the article Howard Stern says these points: "He seems to be an arrogant asshole lately," He loves him as a performer but as a "human being" he's a "scumbag." Okay, lately (since 2000) Prince has been totally fan friendly and accomodating, inviting people on stage, to his studios, shit I've even been in his private reading library of Witness material until he thought better and had us herded out. He's been on shows, talking, toned down his eerie conceptual tones to be family friendly, etc etc. I actually wish he was an arrogant asshole more! I think it's more interesting. And then Prince just gave 1 million to that Harlem charity. I think Howard Stern's statement rings hollow.
"The guy is just weird, he gives concerts with the lights out," he laughed. Stern saw a private concert in a hotel suite that many others reported was quite enjoyable. It wasn't a concert stage was it? I think here, Stern sounds a bit ignorant. The statement "Prince is weird" is like complaining that "Star Wars" has spaceships. Prince got wierd from "Dirty Mind" onwards and that's his brand. In fact, I wish he was weirder! He's a bit too mainstream friendly with his shows right now.
Stern felt for Kim, saying Prince "humiliated" her and that she wasn't prepped on what to do or told that she was going to be pulled up on stage in front of the entire crowd. "She doesn't know what to do. Apparently she's supposed to dance like a stripper for him and she just stood there not knowing what to do. He throws her off the stage because she can't read f--king Prince's mind. He's a bulls--t artist. I'm done with him." Neither was any of the other people pulled up on stage since the Purple Rain tour. Even little kids have danced. I think it's really obvious what is supposed to be going on, since little kids and grandma's have been hip to the fact they're being pulled on stage to dance a little and bring some down-to-earth connection and humanity to the show. This is the stupidest rant by Stern. It's like he has blinders on. Especially when you consider that Kim Kardasian was laughing, and having a good time and got up on stage again. Do you disagree?

No I think it is...He was making jokes all night...calling people on the stage and "kicking" them off for whatever reason, Kim just made it easier because she wouldn't dance.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
people so miss the point on what he had to say about Gabby. Yes he did call her enormous...but that's not false. He was pointing out how hollywood will never make her the next leading lady because of her size.... "not a fan" yeah...ok
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
gee...you sure got something against New Yorkers. Nothing like blanket generalizations and I disagree America would NOT be better off without outspoken unafraid people....even if that includes you. "not a fan" yeah...ok
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm sorry but I dont see any point I've missed. Everyone with eyes can she's not a size 2..The way he described her was offensive and not nice. Who is he to predict whether she will have another role or not? And as a matter fact she does have more roles coming up. But put yourself in Gabby's shoes....Dont you think she felt humiliated hearing that?

I think its weird that you care what I think and that you have this much to say about it. Our opinions differ, great! No big deal. You own yours and I'll own mine.
Edit. Mine dang it, not mind. [Edited 2/11/11 12:52pm]

Cool. I wasn't there and I haven't seen it, so I really can't say. You're probably right if he was doing the same thing to other people. Just seems a little suspect that he would pull her up to begin with, then kick her off so quickly. I mean, shoot, he serenaded that Meester person.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He's not that far off on Gabby Sidibe though. His comments were a reaction to people fawning over her saying "Good for you, you're going to have a long and prosperous career, you've arrived!" Which simply is not the case. He was taking issue with everyone acting like Hollywood is not Hollywood and that there are a lot of roles and a lot of opportunities for a woman her size. And all of the skinny talking heads saying "Good for her" indirectly about her weight, when it's a completely unhealthy way to live.
