Are you satisfied with Prince's music collection or do you expect more?

We can not compare the present time with the old days, but..... I wouldn't mind if Prince would just simply go back to his inside source and make a really good new album, an album that you will play 10, 20, 30 50 or a 100 times and still like it. I am longing to those times when you couldn't wait for an album release and when you got it you would be thrilled and play it a million times for the next 5 months.

My question to you is: Are you satisfied with prince's music collection until now, or do you expect more?

Considering I have 5 times more Prince songs than I do of the next closest competitor (Bruce Springsteen), I'd have to say that I'm pretty satisfied.

And, of course, I want more!

I don't think I have much of a right to expect more out of Prince. I don't sign his paychecks. shrug

There are bits of his catalog that are golden and bits of it that are utter trash, IMHO. At the end of the day, though, it has been and will be his prerogative to give the world what he will.

He has put out enough great music to satisfy me for a long time because he's so prolific. Even some of his worst output still makes for interesting listening and discussion. I'd like more, but don't expect anything. I just take it if and when it comes.

I don't expect more, in fact i would be pleased if he refrained from releasing any new product for two or three years, unless it was unheard vault material.

If you buy his cd's/merchandise/concert tickets, et cetera you are certainly contributing to his paycheck. wink

I'm more than satisfied as a fan. The fact that he's still making and releasing music is a joy for me so who am I to want more when I keep on getting more? And I just finished watching Prince kill it each night that he played in NY AND NJ, so I'm as content as I could be right now! cool

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't think you should expect anything from him or any performer as far as the amount of output. The guy's not a monkey on a string.

If you aren't satisfied, don't buy his records, then go on an independent and unofficial fan community site and whine about it.

If you expect more, you may need to do some re-evaluating.

Oh, c'mon now...you know you love all those Gangster Glam remixes. lol

Granted. And yet, at least from a quality standpoint, Prince has never signed a contract with any of us... and there are no ISO standards for inspiration. smile Now, if we pay for something promised and measurable -- a certain quantity of releases, a performance on a given day/time or a tangible, like, say, a T-shirt -- then I think we have more room to hold Prince to something.

Yes. I am very satisfied with Prince's music. I would not be a fan if wasn't.

My only point of frustration is that many of his albums are out of print, and I cannot listen

to the albums/songs that I hear good things about. I do not like to have work to hard to find music, so if I cannot find it on amazon or in the music bend at the used book store then I tend to give up looking for it.

But his music catalog overall gets a thumbs up!

What titles are you having a tough time finding?

Interesting topic, but I must respectfully disagree with your viewpoint. There is no reason to compare past and present material. They're different, and represent the evolution of an artist with an expansive, long body of material.

Personally, I think the 'Lotusflower' album stands up to (and possibly exceeds) any other release, past or present. I've listened to that album hundreds of times, and it's still got heavy rotation in my house and car.

NOW... for your question...

I always want more. I am always curious to hear what Prince does next musically, and what corner he may turn, so to speak.

He has set the bar very high, with regards to quality and unexpected musical turns, thereby creating high anticipation for each and every release.

I'm actually a little bit concerned about future releases, because of the lack of a widespread release of '20ten', and no word anywhere, "inside" or otherwise, on the next release... We've heard that he already has two to three albums in the can, but what is the fate of this music?

Same here....I just wish he would release some Vault songs and maybe some remasters from older albums...and concerts wink but I'm very satisfied with my collection!

I'm happy, never was a fan long enough to "expect more". I'm happy with and still searching & digesting what he's already put out. So there's a lot of smorgesboard (sry 4 spelling) to go thru before I EVER think about complaining

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!
