It was the 50 Best Concerts Ever, or something like that. I guess it was in 1984 or before the "Purple Rain" tour, because they picked a concert from the "1999" tour.

The description wasn't any great shakes. Dr. Fink or Bobby Z said something like, "We'd done a lot of shows but we could just feel there was something special that night".

So what show was it? And has anyone here heard or seen the boot from it (if one exists)? And if so, was it really special? Or did they just basically pick a show out of the hat?

You're welcome. A while back, Barnes and Noble had on clearance the DVD set that has all the isses of Rolling Stone from 1967 - 2007 on disc. It's great for being able to re-read things like this. If any of you happen to find a copy for cheap, I highly recommend it.

You can get iot for like 20-25 dollars still. Its invaluable imo! So many historical articles. I also have that same issue hardcopy all wrinkled cover form 25 or so years ago. It also states how the Triumph tour with the Jacksons was THE optimal MJ tour etc.

The article I remember centered on one specific performance, ranking 25 or 50 of the greatest performances ever. The Prince performance WAS a "1999" performance, but just one. The blurb was short, and mostly all I remember about it was Bobby Z or Dr. Fink saying there was something special in the air.

But then again, I turned 52 today so maybe my memory is foggy.
