Lovesexy album always sounds hard The title says it all, the overall mix of lovesexy is very hard and harsh. Not sure if it's just the mastering of the album or not, as I havn't copared it to the tracks in isolation, but I always find I just can't turn up tracks without it making my ears bleed.
I should add though, that just listen to the whole album for the first time ina long time, and it really is some of his finest work, shame it's all one track ugh!!! what was he thinking. [Edited 2/8/11 3:09am]

This comes up every week or so. The CD has been available tracked in Europe since the early 90s. Buying a brand new copy from any retailer like amazon.co.uk or .de will net you a brand spanking new tracked version for a few quid.
Failing that you can simply rip the CD and edit it in any .wav editing software, there are many free ones and the whole process takes about 5 minutes, if that.

That reminds me, is there a reason my Around the World in a Day CD skips? Sounds like a bad vinyl transfer at the end of Tamborine and beginning of America.

I thought the normal complaint was that the album sounds too soft and midrange??? [Edited 2/8/11 7:10am] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Find a decent turntable and play the vinyl version and I hope (like me) you will be blown away at the difference in sound and instrument separation. The early Prince CDs (IMHO) are terrible in comparison to the vinyl offerings - almost like you are listening to them through some sort of insulation screen.

I can't say I've ever noticed that. Will have to have a good listen.
