Thanks Prince, for showing that is still compassion and generosity in this world. "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

Well done, Whoopi!!!!
Prince Donates $1.5 Million To New York Organisations08 February 2011 19:06Soul superstar PRINCE has handed out $1.5 million (£1 million) to charitable causes during his string of concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden. The Purple Rain icon wrapped up his residency at the fabled venue on Monday (07Feb11), with stars including Whoopi Goldberg, The Roots drummer Ahmir '?uestlove' Thompson and socialite Kim Kardashian among the fans in the audience. The singer has marked the end of the gigs by donating $1 million (£666,670) to educational charity the Harlem Children's Zone, and a further $250,000 (£166,670) to both the American Ballet Theatre and the Uptown Dance Academy in the Big Apple. And Prince's kind gestures earned him a special mention from Goldberg as she co-hosted daytime talk show The View on Tuesday (08Feb11), praising him for his generosity. She told viewers, "I just had to shout it out because he's very low key, but he's going around, all over the country, as he's touring, to find places where he feels he can help."

This is fantastic news, especially for Uptown and HCZ. Props to Prince. I love his comment:
"A function of our love for the next generation is instilling in them our own hard-fought knowledge. We can't wait to see -- or only hope for -- the future of those coming after us," Prince said. "We must actively take responsibility for ensuring their success."

Of course, this thread is neither a sticky nor does it have a billion posts. Why actually praise Prince on a so-called fan site? Oh, the absurdity of it all. The negativity on this site is suffocating. I am sure someone will find a way to put a sinister spin on it, this is Prince.org the palce where bitter Betties seem to complain about an artist 24/7. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Agree. I was wondering why this wasn't a sticky or noted as a featured article.

mhmm, I haven't been here that long but it is really weird why so many people spend so much time complaining about everything Prince does, instead of enjoying him and what he offers musically!!! There is enough reason to write a LOT of good stuff about him, so why always focus on the negative? But that's why I enjoy reading the concert threads, where most people rave about him, and I try to ignore other threads.
