purplerain14 said: I feel there is nothing wrong with loving everyone around you, but there is a point where it gets creepy. I'm not trying to burst any dreams whatsoever, but Prince doesn't care for you and you know that. The only things you know about him are the things he is saying in his music and in his interviews. He doesn't say everything, he has a private life. From what he does say, you can draw your own conclusions about him, that doesn't mean you're right. You can feel like you know him, that doesn't mean you're right. And wouldn't it creep you out if people around the world you have never met love you so much they'd name their babies after you? Oh, and love has certain levels. The love you have for a close friend or a family member can make you decide to name your child after him or her, merely adoring someone from a distance shouldn't. And I'm afraid you're mixing real love for someone up with having a crush on someone you don't know. Which are two completely different things. But since you are young, you'll have plenty of time to think about my advice wink Oh, and the Hitler comment is so utterly idiotic I'm not going to comment on that one, sorry. Would be a waste of time.

I believe that prince cares for all his fans, in fact he actually says how much he LOVES his fans sometimes when he gets his awards! And no i would not creep me out if someone named their baby after me, the only thing i would feel is LOVE, and u may find that creepy, but that DOES NOT make u right. And i do not have a crush on prince, i do find him attractive, but he is 52 for god sakes, and i may b young and have alot to learn, but i do know what real love is! Oh and u dont have time to comment about my so called idiotic hitler comment, but u have time to comment about how ur not commenting........makes absolutely no sense, and i find it VERY IDIOTIC

You are entitled to your opinion, and you can think Prince does care for his fans. I'm not too sure whether he does or not, but that's just our opinions that aren't the same and there is nothing wrong with that. But you can't claim he cares for all of his fans individually as much as they do for him, because he truly knows very few of them. And I guess you misunderstood my previous post, because when I was speaking about getting a kid named after you by someone you don't know. If a close friend of mine would decide to name his/her kid after me, I'd feel love as well. If I don't know the person it would creep me out and I'd strongly advise him/her not to do it, because he/she doesn't know me. Think about it from Prince's perspective. Wouldn't you find it extremely weird a lot of people in the world you have never met would name their child after you?

Sure, you can love the man for the great music he has given us and what more. But that love really isn't the same love you'd have for a close friend or a family member, or it shouldn't be. You can say you know what true love is, but I really doubt that. I think it's mostly an unhealthy obsession you have for him. I'm not trying to bash you or whatever, but please do realize that there is more than Prince in this world. Naming your children after someone you don't know is something I find creepy, and I know I'm not necessarily right, but I do think it's no more than reasonable to just take some time to think it through.

And please don't hide behind the "I'm young and have a lot to learn"-line. You really aren't that young and at the age you've reached by now, you should be able to think. Just saying.

And with that last paragraph I intended to make you think yourself about the idiocy of that post. I failed, but that doesn't really bother me. I'll be having a great day anyway and I wish you the same wink

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

i agree the love isnt equal to the love for a family member, or a close friend, but i do know what true love is, and i know u may think i have a obsession with prince, and i spend 24/7 obsessing over him, but i usually dont have much free time, and i might get to check the org for 15 minutes, or listen to music while doing school work if im lucky....but like u said its an OPINION, and i dont really need to prove anything to u. And im not hiding behind anything, i am pretty young, and i am fully capable of thinking...but like i said i dont really need to prove anything to u, to tell u the truth i dont really care what u think about me.

I knew a Prince and an Apollonia in high school.

Prince was a tall lanky ugly thing that worked in a restaurant and Apollonia was a big fat ugly thing that did nothing.

It was kind of a shame.

If I didn't have so much to do, I could probably spend the entire day laughing at the pictures this is bringing up in my mind. falloff

The year my son was born ('99), some fool nearby named their son 'Matrix'... to this day, I still worry about that poor little sonofabitch. lol

I think it would be cool to name a kid Seven. That way you could have a Prince song and a Seinfeld reference all in one name.

when i was 13 years old (in 1987) i decided i will call my future son Nate.

ten years later, when my kid was born, i did just that - adapted it to Neit, to look more like a Estonian name

That works.

I think if people feel they must have a Prince-inspired name for their kid, the less obvious stuff like that, works better. Like Jamie (Jamie Starr), or Aura or something.

that's exactly what I was going for I figured if you are a prince fan you'll get it if not then its just a regular ole name although at the time I considered naming him Kristian Love but his dad talked me out of that one

One of my colleagues suggested that we could name our child Prince and that would mean I could change my own name to King. However, I am trying to persuade my wife to call him Nate, if it's a boy.

Great idea, I plan on naming my first son Prince Rogers Nelson!! And daughters Chelsea Rodgers and Diamond Ann Pearl. Second son maybe Jaime Starr, I like that. I think it is totally cool!

My sister took my suggestion and went with Mattie for her new baby she had a couple weeks ago!! Named after Prince's mom (for me, not my sister, she just liked the name). I have nephews named after MJ, Sam Cooke, Brett Favre.

I don't see the big deal, if you love a celeb, show your love and name your kid after them. Lots of people do it, even celebs themselves.

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I went to school with a Prince almost every year, no big deal. Hear the name Prince and Princess all the time. And King and Queen are getting more popular nowadays. The Prince I went to high school with was probably in the top 10 "guys that girls want cause he's all that and some." He had a Prince thing going on, he was always looking fly and had the confidence/cockiness to go along with it. I don't think its that big a deal with all the other really weird names going around.

If I may, I'd like to advise anyone who's thinking about naming their kids after a celeb to think about it a little more and ask people about it you thrust and who aren't a fan of that celeb. Just my 2 cents.
