Beginning Endlessly.

"Beginning Endlessly," is a great song. Prince has the ability to make us wonder what he means. We find ourselves analyzing everything.

How do you interpret any of these lines?

Never mind the birdfeed honey?

Open up our dirty hearts?

Left alone with our devices?

Love is much to small of a word?

Explore your anatomy? (Interpret explore?)

Can we get 2gether
To talk about everything?
We can talk about all of our dreams
Better yet darling...
We can talk about sleeping in.~0ne

Never mind the birdfeed honey? - (birdwatchers feed birds by putting out food) P is always attracting birds (woman) of all colors, sizes, etc / at first I thought he was saying "nevermind the birthday honey just tell me your name" as to say he don't care how young she is just tell him your name b/c he's only asking for her name.

Open up our dirty hearts? - A kurupted heart stays closed-turn black and cold. If you open up your heart just means to give it a chance.

Left alone with our devices? - Devices are what ever we have or dealing with

Love is much too small a word? - he/she feels much more than the short four letter word LOVE that he/she feels or what he/she has to offer.

Explore your anatomy? (Interpret explore?) - anatomy is the structure of living things - it doesn't have to be about the body, it can be body, mind, soul, how do you work, what do you eat, how do you sleep, just regular stuff. So he's saying he wants to know more about this person.

wink

Um... let me warm up my vocals

Never mind the birdfeed honey? I took that part as meaning food or appetizers...as in skip the food, lets just talk. Hearing some song on Exodus made me think of it this way.

Open up our dirty hearts? What the last dude said.

Left alone with our devices? What the last dude said.

Love is much to small of a word? What the last dude said.

Explore your anatomy? (Interpret explore?) I took that as foreplay....that's what I do...explore a chicks anatomy. I'll explore someones mind and ideas, favorite foods and other blah blah topcs for the breakfast table. I think this is one of those explicitly sexual situation described in non sexual terms.

I heard it as "bird feet", as in crows feet-the wrinkle lines on the outer sides of eyes when one gets wrinkles. I figured it was him telling her not to worry that they are getting older. I haven't had the chance to ask him though, so it's just speculation.

I'm just saying...

Nevermind the hello's and how you durrin's....

Open up our dirty hearts?

Exactly what it says, somebody closed off from past relationships...closed minded person...someone who is not loving or compassionate.

Left alone with our devices?

Love is much to small of a word?

self explanitory and has been explained above

Explore your anatomy? (Interpret explore?)

Probably as in explore every single thing about that person (more than just the physical anatomy)

I cant get into this song that much..love the music, but the lyrics kind of just ...go on without explaination of a subject. I think that's the only reason...not that it is too 'deep' or anything..it just doesnt come together well in my opinion. I dont liek to have to try to figure out the song too much...its not catchy or grabbing at first...but the music is funky.

Maybe "Open up our dirty hearts," means that Prince wants her to admit things she's thought about.

I guess I agree that "Birdfeed," probably means smalltalk.

Exploring someone's anatomy...I agree, its layers of exploration.

"Devices," could mean mental and emotional skills to get through difficult situations.

"Love," is much too small a word probably underlines the intensity of the emotions these two people can share.

I was also thinking about the lyric, "The one that came before both you and me."

I Interpret that like a domino effect, Although the "One," is stronger than the smaller pair of dominoes it would knock over in a chain reaction. (A DNA reaction.")

What is different about the "One," verses, the couple is the couple is a "chained reaction," and the "one," is unchained. Anyhoo compredez?

I interpret the whole song as a slow jam. But instead of the old Prince just singing about wanting to fuck the taste out of her mouth he sings about wanting her to engage his rambling about religion, politics, science, history, the eschaton, numerology, etc..

This song is about sex and how he wants to explore her vagina.

I guess the bedroom is the one place a girl stops talking.

Like a lot of his recent songs, the lyrics are whatever they are. Many are nonsense, but I love the music, so who cares?

Agreed. And even when his songs are doggerel the lyricism blows away most contemporary pop and hip hop.

We as fans have not ever stopped analyzing Prince's heart through his lyrics. I can't believe we ever will. Even in this song, Prince sings...

"This may seem a bit serious, but if it turns you on, come with me now let's get nice till serious is gone."

I think that Prince has always felt the urge to get past where he is coming from mentally to expose more of his heart than his mind.

Like relationships when you first start dating. It seems like the gammit of conversation is ran through. People like to get the surface of these deeper conversations out of the way. That's how they get down to what they are looking for in a lifelong companion.

I think it's the natural way that possible lovers, "lighten up."

This song isn't a 'slow jam' at all by the music alone

"Left alone with our devices (sex toys, vibrators, etc.),"

"Explore your anatomy (lick your vagina),"

"You won't have that long if I get my way in this game, (I'll take your virginity),".

It's a very kinky song. razz As dirty as Tamborine, Darling Nikki and Sister.

(tongue in cheek/sarcasm)
