Speakerboxx/Love Below are the same album. It is a double disc album. I'm aware you were speaking about the Andre 3000 side.

I've already shown you where you were conflicting. You said I was wrong. Stop asking.

Again you're being pedantic for the sake of an argument. That doesn't mean jack shit for my point. Why keep mentioning it?

whiskas31, dont waste ur time on that moron, he just likes causing trouble

I'm happy to get a reasoned argument on my post, amd i'm happy to respond to any arguments. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but the fact that he fails to answer my points without resorting to personal insult proves that he's just not cut out to give a reasonable argument.

I probably come across as a moron myself for my comments, but i see most people who responded take my post without malice. I don't mean to throw personal insults at anyone, but i guess some people will take that as such.

Brilliant! You respond to my reply with a shit pic. Not really a reply is it? more of a cop out from someone who feels the need to personally insult me and then back away because you can't argue your point properly.

In some ways tho I feel you have answered your own question. Historically because Prince delivered such genius in such volume he has set a ridiculous bar. I remember watching SOTT in the 80s and thinking this guy was almost supernatural. I feel people complain because they just don't want Prince to succumb to the inevitable, fans and critics alike have always seemingly looked to Prince as the potential exception to artistic diminishing returns.

Yes people are unnecessarily nasty and yes I too feel that Prince has given more than enough. However I think what you see is frustration that that particular dream is over. It is almost when one can get ratty with a friend or relative who is ill-you aren't annoyed you are actually frustrated that things are going wrong and you are worried.

Prince fans have high expectations and that is why we are Prince fans.

I have and always will expect MORE from Prince, because he is a rare talent. I think it is fair to say, that through the changes of different styles and so forth, the least of us Prince fans can tell when he is goofing off and not living up to it.

I expect Prince to inspire me, and challenge me, but he can not do so with poorly thought out material. Why do I expect that? I expect that out of all good art, and Prince is a great artist when he applies himself, and his strangeness has always been a derivative of that in my opinion.

Has he spoiled me? Yes. And I thank him for it. I thank him by mindlessly buying every album he puts out. I am not looking for old sounding music, I never know what to expect when I get a new Prince cut, but it is that expectation that is exciting. And where there is an expectation, there will always be a doorway to exhuberation or disappointment. This is the nature of the beast.

We are all so full of doody here

Why complain?

I complain because:

1) I am 1 who is feeling very un-satisfied with Prince releases post Warner Bros.

2) I miss the days with single releases, maxi singles - with extended versions, music videos etc etc..... and why don't we get any live downloads.

3) Prince could run his business in a far better way

Spoiled?

I just know everything was far better, the quality was far higher before he left WB!

Before the attacks on me comes: lol

I am still enjoying the old music 1978-1995, and also enjoying Prince concerts.... so I'm not leaving the org.

His recent albums are good, but not brilliant like the music used to be, imo.

I enjoy my freedom of speech, including this "critisizm" (spelled?)....... wink

I agree with this.

I see this a lot in this forum, if someone is critical of Prince's recent output, there are always cries of "why are you here then?" or "why don't you leave?" Well, why the fuck should we?

Prince.org is not a site exclusively dedicated to his recent output.

So yes, we shall stay.

Spelling...."criticism." . wink

herein lies the essence of the thread topic. there seems to be such subjectivity as to when this is; and honestly i find it kind of paternalistic to say so dogmatically WHEN this "occurs." it seems to be an argument levied at him whenever someone doesn't like an album (based on a genre, preference, disdain for spiritual content, etc.) as opposed to an honest critique. i'll say NPS and The Vault are times when i've "felt" this, (and to me The Vault's very title kinda gave it away as a contractual album) but as much as i may not prefer Chaos and Disorder, or as much as ppl dislike Planet Earth, or MPLS i wouldn't say in either case that he "mailed them in" or that they're "pure rubbish" (and such comments ABOUND on here; and hollywooddove i'm not saying from you in particular). So to have high expectations is a good thing but its the unbalanced, unbridled, venom, whining and nostalgia that imply he's made NOTHING worthwhile since the 80s that taints the vibe of the org, and more often than not that IS the predominant vibe here.

With the exception of number 2 and 3, nobody can be perfect forever. I wonder how many of us can do the things that we ask of others. To be brilliant and perfect past/present, all the time. Most with lengthy careers have had their peak..I am just glad they gave us a good run while still creating gems here and there for us to listen to.

100% agree but constructive critic is a good thing.

The problem seems 2 be that a lot of folks just like 2 complain.
