Workings of a Concert Series: Welcome 2 America?

Prince last concert in NYC was 1/18, Next one 2/7...Where do you think he rehearsed/rehearses for the next concert at? In one of the Hotels big Ballroom just set aside for him, some other Special place in NYC? Interesting question, surely he rehearses with the band 1-2 times between the concerts, hee hee. Imagine if P showed up 2/7 and said we going to give to you raw tonight, we haven't rehearsed since the last concert and I just gave the band the set list Sunday night 2/6 so you all going to get a rare performance! lol lol

Sadly, Prince has a long history of playing the same thing over and over again. I went to the first Act 1 show in Ft Lauderdale in 1993, and my friends in every other city said he did the same routine before Peach. Just like the snap fingers crap on the Purple Rain tour. The stupid pantering on The Most Beautiful Girl in 1997...and the stupid stuff about his Ride during Adore on the ONA Tour... He did the same crap show after show after show... When it comes to original ideas, Prince can be as hokey as Sting, or other old Fuddy Duddys. Not to mention that Prince still thinks the idea of a hidden track at the end of a cd is some groundbreaking original idea. If somebody told him that The Fixx, Nirvana, They Might Be Giants, and many others did it before him. Some group called the NPG did it on New Power Soul as well.

I really wish Prince would have a tour where he played 3 shows in each city, and had all 3 shows have different material. Even if each show was exactly the same, it would be great for a die hard that wanted to see complete songs, and not a Las Vegas oldies medley act.

Night One: The Hits

Night Two: 1978-1999 (a few hits, but a lot of album tracks.)

Night Three 2000-2011(anything goes)

Of course, Prince doesn't have the guts to do this. I would bet all my money, and my Frozen Pizza that he could never do this.

Ummmm, what the hell does this have to do with the point of the thread? The question is where does Prince and the NPG rehearse for the W2A concert series?

Last time I checked, I was told that reading is fundamental.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The band left NYC on 1/20. They will back after Dallas.

Yes, he did this is LA and he has done this at Paisley Park and from what I understand he has mixed the songs up at the New York shows. Just shows you how we have a lot of people on this board who do not know what they are talking about.

Yes, I have no idea what I am talking about. I must have missed the 5 tours where Prince did something different. Mentioning one off shows or that one awesome Celebration has nothing to do with what I posted about. I simply said most of his tours are over staged over rehearsed for someone so brilliant.

My response: yes reading is fundamental. Your third grade ability is shining through. Perhaps you missed what the original poster put in their post. I'll do a cut and paste, and read away. If you still think my post is off topic, than you should go hang out with Bart Van Halen and learn to nit pick every possible thing....here goes...from the original post(which you can scroll up and read again, if your computer is that advance.)

Imagine if showed up 2/7 and said we going to give to you raw tonight, we haven't rehearsed since the last concert and I just gave the band the set list Sunday night 2/6 so you all going to get a rare performance!

Yep, my post was really off topic. If only I could read like the other brilliant people here

I see where he/she is coming from; thread actually has 2 parts. No one really guessed at the 1st part.

Well they are definitely some Badd Mother shut your mouths because the way Prince stops and starts songs is brilliant; they are awesome to keep up with him very little rehearsal; I guess they've been with him long enough that it don't take much practice to know when to come in when stop for each song!!! razz

Over staged and over rehearsed to you is entertaining to everyone else. I have said it a million times on this board Prince does things the way the old RnB stars did You have long tradition of well rehersed and carefully staged shows in RnB.

I am not sure how you could be a fan and not have noticed.
