Hot Wit U Appreciation

Oh my, I'm getting ready 4 work while listening 2 my newly acquired Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic promo LP and the 1st track on the bside is outrageously tight! I haven't listened to Hot Wit U in a couple of years and I 4got how cool it was/is! cool I just had to dance. And Eve is doin her thing on the track with The Artist 2 a T, rappin and such. I wonder how they came about to meet? And then how did it come about with Prince wanting to her to lay down some vocals?

Such a great collab and song. I fell in love all over again. Makes me want to get the DVD concert 4 this record smile

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

This is my go-to song for when I want to illustrate Prince's mainstream pandering of the late-90's.

It sounds like a commercial for a damn sports drink.

I like this song, but not as much as I like what Prince is wearing on the cover of "Rave."

Can we get 2gether
To talk about everything?
We can talk about all of our dreams
Better yet darling...
We can talk about sleeping in.~0ne

I really like the song but Eve’s phoned-in rapping is pretty bad. I once played it for a friend who writes music criticism focusing on hip-hop and he immediately went on a tear about the Eve part being everything wrong with contemporary rap. I really wish I had a mix sans Eve—how great would that song have been with Shiela or Cat?

i don't think anything could have helped, that song sounds so halfhearted and halfassed.

i have aboslutely no appreciation for this song. see also: Undisputed.

both were marginally improved in their "Raive In2" versions, but not enough to make me want them to exist.

He should have used the LinnDrum on this one instead of many of the others on that album. With some tweaks I think it could have been quite good.

Well, not just "some". lol

One of those rare & fascinating (for the wrong reasons) songs which perfectly encapsulates the decline of a former great artist (no pun intended)

"Hot With U" is perhaps the clearest example of Prince "losing it" in the late-90's

this song is dead, just rotten, a piece of rotten poo...Hot With U is so bad that it makes Shoo-Bed-Ooh look like a very strong song and a lost 90's classic neutral

In fact, after Rave, I just can't believe that he made a comeback in the 00's...

awwww, just put it on the turntable or in the cd player and listen 2 it one more time and c if ur mind changes wink at least a little bit. Most likely, judging from the responses, it's only been listened to once or twice.

Great song and try 4 Prince in 1999

I prefer the remix (In2 version) over the Un2 album version but I like that he worked with Eve on 2 tracks. She also did a cover of 'Irresistible Chick(Bitch)' on her CD that was hot.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

that song wasn't half hearted... it just sucked and was corny as hell. Prince has always been corny he just couldn't get away with it on this one... and Eve's rap is the best part of the song IMO

In 1999-2000, I loved this song because Eve was on it. I was 14 and I loved Eve. I loved Prince too and this is when I was a crazy teenager just listening to his music. As I got older, I forgot about it. It began to sound goofy. I've yet to listen to the re-master and I doubt I will. ohgoon

he only allowed her to use it if she didn't say "bitch"
