So I just finished watching the LoveSexy tour...

I finally got my hands on the entire tour, and watched the whole thing. All I've got to say is W.O.W.

Now, after my boyfriend and I went to go see him this past December at MSG, I was completely content. I told myself I didn't have to attend another concert for as long as I lived because I had FINALLY seen Prince. But after watching the LoveSexy tour I almost feel cheated...damn. Why couldn't I have been a young adult in the '80s.

I haven't had a crush on Prince since I was 10 years old (I know, that sounds funny and wrong but what can I say, people...). When I watched this tour I was simply starstruck. The man looked good. Long hair, earrings, ugh. Fire.

Some people say they don't really enjoy the LoveSexy/SOTT tours because they're too "over-produced" and such, which I can get. But I really love all the energy, the dancing, the lights... combined with the music? Forget about it. Hands down, the most amazing tour I've ever watched.

Everyone was great, especially Sheila E. and Cat and Bonnie. I know Bonnie didn't have a lot of big parts but when she sang she really belted it. The ladies were gorgeous and really gave it their all. And Prince, well.... hehe. What else would you expect?

Anyway I really needed to get this off my chest, and where else is a better place to do so? Who else really loved the LoveSexy tour? What were your favourite parts?

I need to get a hold of the SOTT tour, hopefully I'll be able to find it somewhere. I've seen parts of it but I'd like to see the whole thing, as well as Parade and ONA.

A strawberry mind, a body that's built for 2. A kiss on the spine, we do things we never do.

One of my favorite eras too, magical.

Have you heard any of the shows or aftershows?

SOTT/Lovesexy era will always be a bittersweet one for me

Be glad the footage exists, and you managed to see the man in concert. Prince's career has been documented on camera since the first album, so we're fortunate when we get to see it somehow, and hope that there's more.

I don't think he's ready to mine the vaults and have Ken Burns do his life story just yet, or "American Masters" (maybe with Tavis Smiley's help and narration?) , but that doesn't mean we can't ask them to look into putting something together. It's prob. going to be when he focuses more on legacy and less on creating new music. We might have to wait another 30 years though.

I have the dortmund show. Love it ,love, it, love it....Love the outfits, love the crew....Cat, Sheila e.tc...My fav parts were the Annastesia performance..I am yet to see a more moving and powerful performance of that song from him and the Piano medley of When 2 r in love, Starfish and Coffee, Raspberry beret, Condition of the Heart and Strange Relationship. How cute was he in that long fitted and flared out embroided coat?

I was in total awe when I first saw it. One of my favourite tours for sure.

@dalsh: 30 YEARS, lord have mercy. ): I'll be just about my mama's age... and Prince's age, hahah! And still lustin' over him. Him in his younger years, anyway.

The Dortmund show is what I've got too, the 2 hour long footage... is there more from LoveSexy that isn't shown there? If so, any idea where I could find it without pirating it of course?

@NevermindAlexzander: WOW you lucky dog, you... I'm jealous! It must have been one hell of a time that's for sure!

Yup...

My girlfriend at the time (now wife) got the tickets as a

surprise...
She originaly was going to get tickets to see 'the Cure' with a
a friend of hers...(She LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the Cure)but she sacraficed that idea and got us Lovesexy tickets instead.
She Loved me a bit more than what she wanted at the time.
I'v been paying back that loving gesture ever sense.

What gets me everytime is how he ever could have broken up the SOTT band. I don't call them the "Lovesexy" band as they were formed during SOTT, and partly on Parade. If he had kept this band together, and avoided adding Tony M, his career could've gone who knows where...Too bad Prince, you blew it! Instead of firing everybody...he should've brought Wendy and Lisa back and had them be more in the background on stage, but given them major co-writing and co-producing for studio work..or at least some type of creative help.

Whenever I think of this stuff....it's kind of like thinking...now if only that pretty girl in my freshman English class had paid attention to me....lol

The piano medley, I wish U heaven,The Cross and the beginning of the second part( :i:know/Lovesexy/Glam Slam)

are among my fav's.

I had the tour on VHS and audio tape, these days I have both on DVD and CD.

The past 20 years I listened more 2 the songs I mentioned than any regular Prince album...the groove and the energy from those songs are great....Loooovesexy......boom!! lol

I know what you mean...

What happened to Atlanta Bliss & Eric Leeds after Lovesexy?

Sheila E had to have back surgery and at some point a lung collapsed

Cat... left for Europe having Stars in her eyes or maybe the Graffiti Bridge concept was a bit embarrasing...

Brooks & Wally couldn't pay them anymore

Boni... wanted to get her solo career going, and I don't know how her relationship with Prince sped that up, as well as she was there being drafted from Sheila's band

I think as bad as it was, Graffiti Bridge would have been better if the SOTT band was in there

Apart from Dortmund, there are barely 4 or 5 bootleg DVDs circulating of this tour (vs. more than 100 audio releases).

I don't get it.

in Detroit, in the round, at the Joe. spectacular. i think i like the back and forth with spooky electric (good v evil) the most. overall, dizzying, hypnotic brilliance! i was glad to hear the black album cuts too. i'd just recently heard them so really was pleasantly surprised. shoulda been a double album. have the dortmund dvd too, brings back memories.

It was about two years after the tour ended (and well after she was away from Prince's camp) that Sheila's lung collapsed.

Diamonds and Pearls has sold almost more than SOTT and Lovesexy combined. Definitely more than each individually, so Prince would probably beg to differ that point.
