Prince simply copied 30 year old disco music and added bad lyrics. This doesn't deserve to be labeled as a classic.

The bassline and the synths are identical!
There's nothing "original" in this song.

I was thinking why would you want an ass like a letter C?
Surely that means it's big, saggy and hanging out, or worse you have a really wide asshole, or that it's prolapsed. I guess Prince is still just as freaky as he ever was.

To me, it seems like the ass would be REALLY uncomfortably plump. Like one of those shelf booties that you can sit things on. Who the fuck wants that? Ow. Then her posture is gonna be all fucked up, no thank u.

I heard this song in Nordstrom today and it got me so excited! The lyrics are a bit preachy, but it works. time flies.

so my two bits... I love the song...thought it was one of the stand-outs (Mr. GoodNight) on a difficult (to love) album.
But I love it when Prince works with a band (a real band, horns and shit), and have always wanted to see an entire album done like that. (I had hopes for Musicology when I him talking about it before the release....but that didn't turn out as I'd hoped)

Great track, great lyrics. No one's going to tell me that MJ's Wanna Be Startin Somethin isn't a great jam just because it's got civil rights references. If anything, that's what gives these tracks longevity. You hear them as beats. You dance to them. Then you learn from them. No artist of any calibre creates art for the sake of art.
