Easily one of my favorite Prince songs. And it’s from such a good album, too!

There was a really good thread about this song some time ago. Love the creative concept and the lyrics.

I Always thought it was from Prince 2 God "Will U Shine A Light And Try 2 Guide Me" thinking he will keep gettin reicarnated..... instead of bein allowed in2 heaven "Its Happened B4 I Knocked On Ur Door...But U Wouldnt Let Me In" because he thinks God disproves of his naughty lyric content (Erotic City, Head etc..) and he will have 2 stay on earth until his spirits pure as buddists believe...hence why it starts with "How Beautiful Do The Words Have 2 Be..."

Nice song. Perfect blend of pop, rock and abstract. Would have sounded right at home on "S.O.T.T".

I remember staying up late when he did it live on Letterman and was blown away. But I will say I don't like the video.

its a grower on me, but it definately has some interesting lyrics. The Gold Experience is a fantastic album and criminally underrated by the general public.
