First Prince Official Single Released on CD? Hi all
When did Prince start releasing singles official on CD (NOT vinyl) and not re-releases? Was it from the Lovesexy Album? "I have a date with Lisa. Isn't that wonderful?" |

The first manufactured Prince CD single was the promo of "If I was your girlfriend".
The first commercial release was "Alphabet St". . |

I have vague memories of attending a record fair circa 1990 and seeing a Japanese 3" cd of "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man", including the remixes of "Hot Thing". It was in a longbox package. Does it exist or did I imagine it? |

There was a cassette version of this packaged in a longbox. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. |

Definitely no CD. Just vinyl and cassette.
As posted above "If I Was Your Girlfriend" (1 track edit version) was the 1st promo, and "Alphabet St" was the first commercially released. [Edited 1/31/11 8:47am] |

I bought the Alphabet St CD Single when it came out and it was a smaller size CD single than the average CD.
That was the first I saw of P on CD Single - up til then I was buying all 12". "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love" |
