I want just Prince

Remember when you went to a Prince concert and the only person singing would be Prince? Dont you miss those days? When was the last time that up to 25% of a Prince show was someone else on vocals (Shelby J) or someone else center stage (Tamar, Larry Graham, etc) or that lame stunt of bringing the drunkest, most obnoxious losers from the audience up onstage.

It all seems like filler. It is less work for Prince. A diversion. The recent shows seems to take this to a new level with Prince bringing major solo artists into the show. I love Janelle Monet - her last album is the one that Prince should have made. But when I pay the price and exert the effort and planning that one must pay for a good seat at a Prince gig, I want to see Prince - and nothing but Prince - all night. Call me old school but I was front and center when he just had the Dark n Lovely perm and the white buttons down his pants legs with Dez riding shotgun.

falloff

Some of those are orgers, you dork.

Besides, to say that it's "less work for Prince" is just silly. It's a major production, and you can bet Prince is behind the wheel on all of it. An additional person singing or being showcased probably means Prince has to do more coordinating.

Either way, the problem with Prince's shows certainly isn't that he's lazy or not singing enough....he's working it like a gay prostitute at a Republican convention....the problem isn't his additional singers!

It's his wig. shrug

Now that the endless number of covers has been cut down, the back-up singers taking lead vocals is the next issue he needs to address. Third, did he ever turn down the volume to something a little below ear-splitting? I haven't been in awhile, but I remember this being one of the major turn-offs.

I agree with that 100 percent! The last time I saw Prince in concert was 97 or 98 (can't quiet remember) and he brought Larry Graham and I felt like it was the Larry Graham show- AND he brought a bunch of people on the stage which certainly was annoying- In fact, after that show I was done with him! (I've sent come back) but I know what you mean! Back when I saw him, so long ago, no one else seemed to mind and I thought I was the only one who had a problem with it but when I see footage of old shows sans Larry Graham- that's the Prince I want!

I suspect he needs extra help because he ain't no spring chicken anymore. He needs a little break every now and again, thats when someone else steps in.

I know that he doesn't look it, but he is 52. Which comes with a bunch of budding health issues. I've seen him play twise in the past 2 months, and at 21 I can't run around in heels for as long as he does - my knees start slowly killing me.

Little man is out of touch and missing the point. He has fans that adore him and yet he charges them hundreds of dollars to see him for 15 mins flaunting around in high heels, with his famous friends, all marvelling how wonderful he and his silly god is and pretending it's still the eighties.

His shows are as obsolete as his guitar solos and his wardrobe. If he had any real connection with his fans (the non-obsessive kind), he'd understand that they just want to watch him do what he does best. Make music. Smaller shows at smaller venues, where he plays what he wants, not what he thinks we need. In fact, just stick to his aftershows...

i saw a lot of comments like these on facebook since november. seeing more annoyed people than happy ones made so that i didn't bother with getting a ticket for his concert. what's the point in going to a concert, no matter the price, and watching another artist you could give a damn about and only seeing the one you want to see for like 30mins out of the 2-3hrs? also, the fact that he's only doing the old stuff is annoying as well.

Actually, he owes me (and thousands of other mugs/fans) the £70+ i moronically paid for his lousy website rip-off/scam. Plus the hard-earned 2 x 30p's i paid to purchase the lousy newspapers which contained his even lousier last 2 'albums'. What a joke!

And trust me, i won't be making the same mistake again and i certainly won't be paying the hundreds of dollars he's now charging to see his mates play instead of him!

(By the way, i have no idea how what Pickles wrote means what you says it means - i trust you, but i have no clue how to translate!) wink

I think it should have said, "prince DOESN'T have to do..." shrug

I guess you guys have never heard that expression. The older folx used to say it... "I don't have to do anything but stay Black and die."

Some people say "pay taxes and die", but you don't HAVE to pay taxes. There are consequences, but you don't have to.

On the other hand, you can't avoid who you are (even though some people try), and NO ONE avoids death.

Hope this helps! biggrin

Ok, extortionate ticket prices to second-rate gigs are one thing, but do you seriously think that P didn't rip off his fans with his websites? Of course it was my choice to pay the money i did, but through trust of an artist whom i respected and expected would equally respect me, as one of his fans. He has shown himself as a money-grabbing control-freak time and time again, and i'm sorry but as a mature adult i can no longer choose to look at him with the blinkers that a lot of you on here seem so happy to still wear.

Again - que???

This makes no sense at all. You think he's an arsehole (US translation: asshole) but don't wish to blame him totally for ripping his fans off. Who's fault is it then? Mine and yours and all the other mugs who trusted him? What exactly did we bite into? An expectation of an artist with integrity and honesty - two things that "the cat" claims were big reasons for his whingeing (and offensive 'slave'-scrawling) back-out of his multi-million pound Warner Brothers contract. He's a hypocritical thief. You say you expected it - more fool you than! I expected professionalism and honour, at least in his contract with us. His fake-saintly morality and ethics seem to sway in the breeze of his own whims. Like most religious nuts. As for your comment on universal BS on a hot platter, i have no concept of your meaning with this non-sensical sentence.

are you thick ?

can you not understand a sentence when the word 'do' is omitted ?

i could understand it perfectly well and i'm not even a native speaker

btw why do you bother to come here if all you can do is spout annoying negative crap about Prince here continuously ?

I have to disagree. I've been to two of the concerts so far, planning on going to a third, and I've had a blast. Mint Condition came on at 7:30 and Janelle came on at 8:15, then Prince came on at 9a which is the usual time I notice of main artist from the shows I've been to with other artist, and performs for two hours. but hey. to each his own.

"prince does have to shit but be black and die"

Where would you like me to enter "do" in this sentence to make it grammatically correct?

Oh, and it's not my choice to come here, but part of my care in the community programme.
