Are there any live performances from the FOR YOU album ?

What about even earlier than that? Are there? The earliest I can recall is from the self-titled PRINCE album.

Has he EVER performed live any of the songs from the FOR YOU album?

Didn't he perform a For You song with Sonny and Michael a few years back?

The earliest circulating concerts are from 1980/81.

Prince never toured with the first album.

He has done Soft and Wet, Just as Long as we're together and I'm Yours live in other shows, and the title track was partly overplayed as a later tour intro.

He may have done a one off performance of other tracks, but I can't think of any of the top of my head.

That is a great track wink

And by the way, Warners had a test trial seeing if their new wunderkid could perform in front of a real audience w/o problem, but was proved in the negative. He kept his eyes closed and kept his back towards the crowd. So Warners were like "Umm, we're gonna wait on this one".

He just did Capri shows during that time, am I correct?

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

he did more than a dozen shows in 1979/1980 so he must have played

a bulk of the first album at those dates, one would believe.

but there don't appear to be recordings or even setlists around of them

so who can say.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yeah, "I'm Yours" was performed at the Conga Room, LA in March 2009. And like Spinlight said, "Soft & Wet" has reared its head a few times throughout his career.

LOL I never heard that about him performing like that.......

And yes IN LOVE is by far and without a doubt my fave song on that album. It should have been released as a single. One of his best songs ever IMO. (very underrated)

As you state, he played two shows at The Capri 5th January 1979, which was his live debut, then he played another capri show on the 7th.

Prince also played two showcase gigs for Warners staff and the media in L.A in August 1979.

Then the tour in support of the Prince album began on 28th November 1979, he played two shows that day, one of which was attended by Bob Marley, and this is the show where he met Sheila E for the first time.

There's one of Crazy You complete with drums and synths. I wish I could find that one in better quality because the arrangement is awesome!

Good music makes me happy.

Crazy You on the Dirty Mind shows (Probably the only Live performance Sams 1981) He performed Just As Long As Were Together in the 1979 and 1980 shows, the Prince tour. So Blue was also played on the Prince tour. And of course Im Yours was played in 2009 for the first time.
