it was recorded in spring of 1985 and intended for inclusion on Parade. on a first configuration of that album, i believe it was track #5 or #6.
later it was one of the songs people could vote for at the celebration of 2000, for inclusion on crystal ball volume 2. but that was never released either.
shame, because i would love to have this in good quality. amazing track. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

^This track is circulating in a VERY good quality since some years ago.
Interesting, a curiosity but BORING to hear.

Love this song
One of his best outtakes, imo. Prince 4Ever.

I have to agree with this unfortunately. I appreciate it's interesting and quite unique in the Prince canon, but I've never really dug it that much. I still appreciate that he does stuff like this, but I can see why it didn't make the cut for Parade.

I have to agree with this as well. The song doesn't really blend in with the rest of Parade, with any album for that matter, so I guess it better stay in the vault. It was "fun" to hear it once though You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

This song is one of Prince's great dark songs. In my opinion much better than much of his released stuff.
Not boring for me at all. Might depend on whether you dig the melody or just the spooky sound. I dig both.

I like it but it sounds unfinished. Like, it needs something else to make it really pop off. Good song though. |

I don't like nor dislike this track.
It is what it is, an interesting outtake.

My interest would be elevated if it was in CD quality. It is from a classic era. Don't think it's boring by any stretch.

Well, the source that has been circulating for some years now is very close to cd quality.

i wouldn't call it boring, but it isn't a song that you'd put on repeat either, no and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I agree with others, not something that I listen to on a regular basis. But there are many songs of any genre that I'm like that with. There has to be a mood
But with this song it's usually included in a playlist that I created when I'm in a Parade era mood and it always pleases

The song is very NIN in style! It's like what Trent Rezner would make. __________________________________________________

Not my cup of tea - Parade would have been quite different with this track. It was recorded the same day as Old Friends 4 Sale and Tibet. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

yes, and you know Prince still had that tragic dark thing he wanted to portray, like in Purple Rain
I LOVE Old Friends 4 Sale though
Tibet???? | |

There were several instrumentals recorded around the Parade sessions and this was one of them. The title was apparently inspired by the "exotic" sounds he used from the Fairlight. It's not circulating as far as I know. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

wow. and like you said in another thread(Power Fantastic) Prince is scared of stuff like this. The creative energies were at a explosive high. From the instruments to all the outtakes and the Dream Factory session, the Family music the Flesh sessions [Edited 1/19/11 11:10am]

I mean, the wailing n' all is striking to the ear...it's ok. I personally find 'Cookie Jar', darker...there's a real monster in that.

One of my favorites since I first heard it in 1987. I'm just saying...

Love this one because it's diff than the usual. What is Tibet?

An unreleased instrumental from the Parade era recorded at Sunset Sound. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
