In general, I'd agree.

There were a few parts I'm not sure I understood what the writer was saying:

And if Prince had done nothing but stand stock still onstage and sung other people's material, he'd have locked up his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame;

...huh?

Following the sleepwalking Batman,

...?

I like how he calls Tony the rapper who can't rap! lol

The "And if Prince had done nothing but stand stock still..." part, is actually quite the compliment.

It's saying, strip away the mind blowing music...strip away the mind blowing stage performances...all he has to do is stand on stage and sing...anything (obviously they're forgetting Puple & Gold) and it would be RnRHOF worthy, influential etc.

OooOooo - I see! I thought they were saying that he is only worthy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if he sung other people's material.

Thanks for clearing that one up, Nothingbutjoy! wink

Why are you censoring jerks? lol

I didn't say jerks, I said j*rks, that's a difference lol

not censoring them! just battling them! there are too many (at least since 2009) and they're not going away, sadly...so the battle is on

Damn, you're weird.

I can't tell the difference? You're the one who's labelled Rolling Stone "wrong", because you dislike what essentially amounts to a review of Prince's career. Reviews are by defintion subjective. So do tell: What's wrong with this piece, aside from that it's criticial of some of Prince's work? Point me to some examples where of factual, objective error, please.

And I haven't lied or put words in your mouth. See how I phrased my posts? That I was asking you a question? Clearly you need to work on your reading comprehension skills as well. As for wasting my time, I have the misfortune of doing so every time I read one of your posts. How I wish this place had an ignore feature.

blahblah blahblah

I didn't think you'd manage a valid response. Way to live up to expecation!

Which doesn't mean it's worse than 2001's The Rainbow Children, which was sold with a sticker advertising it as "controversial," probably because no one had ever combined lite-jazz treacle with Jehovah's Witness dogma to such an unprecedented degree. That's not quite what we meant when we asked for another groundbreaking album, Prince.

After Rainbow, even diehards thought Prince was finished, but when you hit bottom, there's nowhere to go but up.

I could not agree more with this part.

Not crazy. I agree Rainbow Children is Prince's rock bottom and since 2004 things have been surprisingly ok if not very very good in spots.

Have you listened to TRC? It's worthy of a place in his top ten albums and has at least 3 of his top 20 songs...

which ones?

1+1+1=3, She loves me 4 me & Last December...
