If Prince actually played Let's go crazy and not the "go go go" nonsense with the revolution, i believe even those who have listened to the song a thousand times will be blown away.

New Big Audio Dynamite album and tour with original lineup is in the pipeline too.

They were fucking brilliant live, they used to end with a cover of 1999.

As much as I love The Revolution, you can't really put them in the same category as these other bands, as they were simply the backing band for an artist who was very successful both before, and obviously afterwards. The Smiths weren't "Morrissey & The Smiths" and the Beach Boys weren't "Brian Wilson & the Beach Boys", you know? There's a difference.

Anyway, Smiths reunion is never going to happen because the drummer sued Morrissey and Johnny Marr a few years back and won. I would love to see James Iha and D'Arcy back in the Smashing Pumpkins, but since Billy Corgan has deluded himself into thinking he's Trent Reznor and can do everything on his own, it's probably not going to happen. And given the current state of affairs with some members of The Revolution and Prince, again, not gonna happen.

I really don’t understand why people think that there’s really demand for a Revolution reunion. I remember the 1980s, and I don’t remember many people having the first clue who most of the Revolution were—the were just Prince’s backing band. Prince could probably start calling his backing band The Revolution tomorrow and only his most dedicated fans and pop-culture junkies would even notice, and those people would pay to see Prince anyway.

And really, any list that calls for a Pink Floyd reunion is a joke. They can’t reunite because the entire band isn’t ALIVE.

Reunion tours are working out pretty well. The Stooges have been successful twice. Gang of Four, Pavement, Buzzcocks, Guided by Voices, My Bloody Valentine, Soundgarden, and even Van Halen buried their differences in the last couple of years. This seems to be a trend, along with playing classic albums in their entirety. These are good trends. Coachella is always a strong place for some of these reunions to happen. Fans put bets on who will reunite each year at the California music festival. I am going to throw out my 10 wishes for reunions that need to happen in 2011. The clock is ticking. None of us are getting any younger. You made great music together and it is time to heal those wounds and learn to love each other. LIFE IS TOO SHORT!

At #8 Prince and The Revolution
I have already mentioned that I met John Cusack at a Wendy & Lisa show at Park West. Clearly I was and am a fan of the ladies. Prince is incredible. He still amazes and is the coolest. Even though he can still write the perfect song for 2011 and now shows off his blistering guitar skills, he has not topped the pure pop power of The Revolution.

I saw Prince and The Revolution at Rosemont Horizon on the Purple Rain tour(tour shirt in the photo gallery). It was so much fun. I was sitting in section 110 with the purple parachute pants. The show blew me away and had Sheila E. as the opening act, which fit together perfectly. I suggest the reunion tour be the same. Sheila E. opens it up and then Prince takes over with The Revolution. Let Wendy & Lisa have some stage space too Prince.

There has always been word that there was an album put together by The Revolution and never released. Possibly a double album with all members contributing. It is time for The Revolution.

I am sure Wendy & Lisa are up for it. I am sure Doctor Fink still has his scrubs around. Let's Go Cuckoo Crazy!

Prince, please play the Purple Rain album in its entirety. Then throw in some of the double album that we haven't heard and continue with more from the greatness that is The Revolution. Chicago Theater? Or maybe the newly opened newly refurbished Uptown Theater (someone is working on that, right?). Prince likes to go Uptown.

As much as I would like to see a Revolution reunion for old times sake, it has NOTHING to do with Wendy & Lisa and however they might feel about the situation. Let's not get it twisted here. The only person that has any say on whether the Revolution reunites or not, is Prince.

If Prince decided to do it, Wendy, Lisa, Mark, Matt and Bobby would be on the NEXT flight out to Paisley Park.

And yes, "Dream Factory" rocks. But there's also another unreleased Revolution album - "Roadhouse Garden" -that Prince actually worked on in 1998 with the intention of reforming the Revolution for. However, the rumor is that he was unwilling to offer any compensation for the bandmembers to work on it.

Which, if that's true, is obviously not fair. People have livelihoods and families, and you know damn well what Prince's response would be if somebody asked HIM to work for free.

It needs to happen, even if it's just for a festival or something. Purple Rain wasn't a masterpiece because of Prince alone.

i have given this some thought and I have to say that as a preforming band there is was not much special with the revolution. Wendy and Lisa and Matt are all fine..*Wendy and Lisa know more about music that prince ever will* but I am not sure they bring or rather will allowed to bring enough to the table live that they could not be replaced.

W and L's true positives were in the studio.

As much as I would love to see a Revolunion, the band members weren't an integral part of the stage show. None of them were considered to be among the best with their instruments, they all took a back seat to Prince. Their departure didn't have a big on-stage impact as, for example, Slash's departure did on GNR. Songwriting-wise, yes. Performance-wise, no.

A Pink Floyd reunion? They did it once a few years ago, but now most of the original members are dead. It would mostly be David Gilmore and Roger Waters...

and this was listed ABOVE Prince and the Revolution? WTF?

a reunion would be a lot of fun.. love to see this happen 4 fun, charity & nostalgia. but won't happen cuz prince takes himself far too serious.

the jam reunion would be my dream come true, i would never rule that out

"The Revolution" was a fun gimmick for its time, but it isn't necessary in 2011. Prince has since played with better actual musicians on stage, and the marketability of Prince lies in Prince himself.

Now if we were to argue that Prince needs a long vacation from recording studios and a producer, you'd hear no disagreement from me.

Exactly! I don't like when people hold "The Revolution" as the only reason for Prince's success. They were a concept stage band that worked during that time period in the 80's and for the movie Purple Rain. Prince did not need them in the studio. He recorded many "Masterpieces" by his lonesome. In fact i think he is better when he is a one man band.
