people just dont realise how talented prince is

I must admit that after 30 years in the biz and the public eye in one form or another....i am still amazed that people seem to have no idea how talented prince is?....they either have no idea....i thought he just sang ?....or they see a clip on youtube or whatever and suddenly realise he has fantastic ability.....what have they been hearing or watching for 30 odd years that they couldnt see it before?.....i knew it has soon as i heard when doves cry on the radio.....anyway back to the ironing.....

The piano section of Lovesy Live should be seen by all comers. Even though he is just doing piano, I think it displays his gifts succinctly.

Yeah but then you'd have to explain away that eye sore of a costume he was wearing. Liberace anyone?.. I'm a hetero male & that's a tough one to drag out.

lol

That 'Liberace on acid' get up doesn't really detract as much as some other get ups imo.

Prince's problem is that, well... he just doesn't help himself.

Wrong singles, weird acceptance speeches, not embracing youtube or the internet.... makes him a easy target for the public.

I remember after the brits '06 performance a lot of peeps in England couldn't believe how good this guy was........Then the same people went to the O2 and received a free album (Planet earth) and England went back to normal....20Ten would be another example, 'everybody loves me' will never be forgotten.

Hmm ... Honestly, I'm at the point where I could care less if someone else realizes P's true talent as an artist. I used to be in 'awe' with the idea that some people were or are like that. Now, I just don't care, like I said before. I'm stingy with my admiration for his talent and music. The more you don't like him, the better chance for me to get tix or get the music or go to eBay to get that piece of memorabilia they didn't know about or want.

Some people are just drones and do not go out of their comfort zone to find or realize the gift of music and talent some of us have. Prince is a Gifted Musical Genius and I'm ridin' this ride until the wheels fall off.

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Totally agree. People have no idea of the depths of his talent. The amount of people I've shown the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame video too, the one where he played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", and they had absolutely no idea our boy could tear it up like that.... I've converted more than a few people to the purple gospel.

There's a large contigency of the public that only seem to know "When Doves Cry", "Purple Rain", "Kiss", and "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World". They probably know a few others at a push, but for a lot of people, sadly that's the depth of how much they know of P. That's why I try and educate them!

I always say to everybody that Prince is genius.

And who doesn't agree with me, is because they don't know Prince's music that much, or his career, even people from Prince's generation not many of them know his music.

And instead of learning about him they start talking about stuff that have nothing to do with Prince as a musician!

They would say narrow-minded stuff like "P. is gay", or they more interested in what woman is he dating at the time, or some other garbage.

So, as a result I educate many Americans about Prince's music, their own musician. And originally I'ma foreigner in USA, but I know more about American old school music and American history and slavery more than many Americans do.

Actually, when i mention Prince to people, most of them say he is a genius...but i live in Holland, we always adored him. wink

on the other hand, why should you care, if you enjoy his music it's enough. We're not 16 anymore where you couldn't believe someone didn't like the music you were listening to.

Although i'd be happy to convert more people towards prince, if they dont realise how gifted he is, its their loss.

Prince is too diverse for his own good.... he never make a standard albums in a "Rock" or "Pop" or "RnB" way ... hence people just don't know what to do with him....that's really not Prince's problem it's the music industry creating labels for artist...

Prince plays with this, he hates fitting into a box ....lol

... like I always say, people stay in their comfort zones. There are a lot of people out there that are just ignorant. Some people do not even know when you define them being 'ignorant' they think it's an insult, which is not. It just means lack of knowledge.

Well I didn't realize how talented Prince was, until now that is. I was into other artists and Prince wasn't really on my radar. I would hear his songs on the radio and see him briefly on tv sometimes. Something told me last year to go see him live in concert and I'm so glad I did because I'm now a die hard Prince fan.
