Why won't Warner Bros release a COMPLETE video hits collection of Prince??

It just bothers me that all Warner Bros has release is a 15 video compilation of his music videos when he's definitely done MANY, MANY more than that...Madonna has about 3 volumes of her music videos on DVD, U2 just came out one for 1990-2000 (which I'm buying today btw; has a music video for The Hands that Built America-- the theme song of Gangs of New York-- my favorite movie of 2002!!) and has other compilations from the past; and I can name others-- Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Pet Shop Boys...why can't WB give Prince such royal treatment?!? Maybe we should all write them...does anyone know how we can get hold of them??

In truth, WB could sell a DVD set of prince videos that would sell rather well--not millions, but with some advertising, they could sell enough to make a profit...
but it ultimately doesn't serve their purposes to promote an artist no longer on their roster, or to show the general public something it hasn't seen yet.

It makes more sense for them to simply sell past albums, which are already in mass print and sell thousands each year.

Why do ALL companies release 18 year old z-list actionfilms
with Jean Claude van Damme on DVD???

If that kind of dull weak shit still sells, than I think a
Prince dvd vid collection would sell a whole shitload more.

I'd be up for buying it. I've looked at the Hits DVD but it
just doesn't include anything I'd really wish to own. Too
many OLD songs.

I want a dvd including "AUTOmatic", "Eye No" and all that.

I would love to see America the full length video along with I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star complete! That in itself would blow all of these recent pops stars back to the crib.

I think that's why they don;t release it. They will probably never find an artist as amazing as Prince in who's natural performance skills would even touch his.

Then I'd also like to see the video for Take Me With U with The Revolution skipping around the stage!

Oh well.

David Bowie just put out a 2-disc DVD of all his videos & I'm burning with jealousy! He did also put out a 2-disc CD of his greatest hits so the 2 complement each other.
When WB put out 'The Very Best of Prince', they should have taken the opportunity to do justice to his collection of videos.

1) Lack of demand

2) would lose money

They would only sell a couple of thousand copies at most. You need to realize Prince is just a cult artist who hit it big for about 5-6 years in the 80's.

this is just what average, ordinay people think...
the ones who listen 2 music only after seeing who's on the top 10 charts...My friend, how many musicians were able not 2 be forgotten after 25 yars?? A few, the Big Old Ones, I could start with Dawid Bowie, madonna, Elton John, U2, and including Prince, Yes, he deserves it!! (the list is not ended of course, but in a so big number of pop stars it's not bad being in the top 20 of the last 20 years...I love him...

I hope Prince strikes up a deal with WB to release all his music videos plus more...time heals all wounds, and I'm sure they can get past what happened before...wouldn't Prince's Jehovah agree to that??

David's video collection is hilarious, the Day In Day Out video is absolutely horrifying. The 2 CD collection is kind of a joke to me, all of his 70s albums and Space Oddity are rock essentials if you ask me... It's a joke because it includes Under The God... Come ON! You've got to be kidding me...

I really think Prince himself would have to approve of something like this. But then again,I wonder, who "owns" Prince's music videos anyway? Are they the property of Warner Bros. since,in many cases, they also paid for the production of these videos?

WB owns the copyrights from most video's, because they are the producers of the video's (a different form of copyright than works of music and sound recordings). Some video's may still be property of Paisley park enterprises.
