I gotta say, most of these videos are muddled. Looks like Prince just hammered most of them together just to have something to promote the songs or show the public that his new stuff at the time was slamming. Beyond the Dolphin and Gold videos, most of it was silly. Slight nay.

This era is without doubt one of the most groundbreaking and bravest era's by any "major'artist

prince showed he had balls

when he first came with the slave thing everyone took the piss-cept i notice the black media-Vibe did a great piece

I agree with whoever said that this era proved he had balls. If someone were to try and pull that today...oh they'd be slammed all to hell and back. And yes, the videos from this era...yea, they're kinda wierd.

I kinda like the quick and dirty approach he had at the time, it felt a little bit 'punk' if you know what I mean - maybe 'indie' is a better word.

The Beautiful Experience videos and L4OA, it was all really insular and fed into the Prince against the world trip he was on at the time.

Agreed with all of this. He had a total "fuck you all" attitude at this point and it was awesome. Manifested in some GREAT music.
