Hey Sunmoonandstars...

Curious about he Rock Cup that you have. Is it the Mac's / Coke is It! Rock Cup. Does the blurb on the back say Warner Bros. megaplatinum artist Prince finds himself with...

If so, I am partially responsible for that cup and the other 17 that went with them (Aerosmith, Billy Idol, Bon Jovi etc. I actually wrote the blurb. Coca-cola was one of our clients and we did it as a Coke promotion at Mac's Milk back in the early 80's when 'the big gulp' was popular. I have the whole set buried in the basement somewhere.

Right! Yeah, there was a puppet sold on the Purple Rain tour. I think it was modelled after the one Prince had in the movie. Really rare!

Never seen that Purple Rain display bin, got photos?

How'd you get the banner from the Nude Tour? What does it say? What color?

All this is fascinating! Thanks all for sharing your goodies!

The banner has one of the 3 pics of Prince in the red pvc suit and has Nude Tour 1990 written in red and blue lettering.
I don't have any pics of the display bin. I got it a few years ago and only took it out of the box to make sure all the pieces were there.Unfortanately a lot of my stuff is stored away and I don't get to enjoy it as often as when I had a "Prince Room".

The Purple Rain Coat condemns..(did I spell that right?).
I forgot that I had them until a few years ago when my 7 y/o daughter found them while going through my Prince collection.confuse
They are hidden a little better now! sigh

Woops. I remember those, when were they made? Who made them? Any scans maybe? Cool.

Sorry, no scanner.
They are packaged like a miniature CD.
The front is purple with the symbols and says:
Purple
Rain
Coats
prince
"Take Me With U"
One High Quality Purple Latex
ConDom
On the back of the package it has:
Peace, Love & Purple Rain Coats
b&W picture of prince in the background with prince , Mayte and the NPG standing in front of it.
(c)1995 Global Protection Corp.(r)MA 01887 (617)933-0050
On the left side it reads:
Purple Rain Coats/"Take Me With U" GBC/PRN
On the right side where you open it says:
1995 PRN productions, INC.
The inside has safe sex info, National STD Hotline, instructions on using...etc, and of course, a purple condom.
Does anyone else have a scan maybe?

I have two things that are completely rare and strange all at once...
The first thing is a Mac's Convenience Store (kinda like a 7-11) plastic cup that says 'Rock Cups' on it and has a little picture of the Purple Rain on it and a little write up on the back of the cup about the album (the cup came out in the summer of '84). I found it at Value Village back in 1989 for 50 cents. My other odd thing is a kids velcro wallet with a poorly silkscreened cartoon face of Prince (a la Purple Rain) and the Purple Rain logo on it. I bought that when I was in high school... it cost me $3.99 at the time.
My greatest find was a Purple Rain Tour Shirt, never, ever, ever worn (it still had some $20 tag pinned to it's sleeve - a la a concert merchandise booth), and that I also found at the Village back in 1994 for 50 cents (I've only ever worn it three times since I bought it...).

I remember those plastic cups! I had forgotten all about those. There were several different artists featured. My mom probably sold mine in a grage sale sad
If U set your mind free, baby, maybe U'd understand...

Ok. I don't think it's really strange, but I placed an order through 1-800-New-FUNK back in the day and got several Princely extras with my order.

One was a round purple solid sachet disk with the symbol on it. I think it smelled like the Get Wild perfume. (Can't be sure, because I never smelled it)

A couple of patches (stick ons) I don't really remember what's one them, it's been a while.

An NPG Magazine and I think a poster.

(THOSE WERE THE DAYZ)yes

Most favorite collectible:

I was doing a play with my university and this guy that helped run the show and I started talking about Prince. The next day he showed up with the first Prince Comic Book and gave it to me.

I was in shock. The comic books are fairly common, but it's just the fact that a one time acqaintance gave me one of my favorite collectibles.

Anyone else get in freebies when ordering?

Handwritten lyrics (in pencil) on flowery stationary that eventually became the song Style.

When I managed a movie theatre in Mpls, Prince used to come in on occasion (yes, the first time he came in I nearly wet my pants, I held the door open for him and he said thank you, and I couldn't even speak to say You're welcome... Eventually, I ogt used to it.). One night, while he was there, I had an evening manager on duty, so I was leaving early. As I was walking to my car, I saw a folded up piece of paper on the ground outside of the back door of P's limo. I picked it up and continued on to my car. When I got in, I unfolded and low and behold, it was lyrics! eyepop
Months later, Emancipation came out and I discovered what song it was.

Other than that, I don't collect anything.

original vinyl of The Black Album

Are you sure it's an original? Over the years, I've gotten emails from people claiming to have the original withdrawn 1987 Black Album, but after asking for details, I've found that every single one has been a bootleg.

If it is an original... congrats! Even though it isn't the rarest Prince collectable, I agree that's pretty much the "holy grail." I'd love to have one myself. (I do have two copies of the official 1994 release on vinyl.)
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.
