Observing his long and prolific career thus far, can any of you say that you've ever experienced something produced by Prince (be it a song, album, or even a live performance) that truly and utterly amazed you?

I think that many of us have become absolutely jaded after consuming such a sizeable amount of creative output from the man... and maybe we're at a point where we can't even recognize when Prince does something truly astonishing- something that unashamedly flaunts his unique talent in a way that only he can.

I bring this up because I was recently shown a Youtube video of a young singing talent who I had never heard of before; the singer bound my attention enough on this first impression for me to want to immediately find more performances by him. His voice actually amazed me somewhat.

So now I started wondering if there was anything in my memory from Prince that initially summoned up the same kind of feeling. Of course, after much contemplation, I do remember instances like my being completely floored after seeing Fury performed on SNL for the first time (along with a few other guitar-hero moments)... I guess that's my one example for my own question to you all.

-But other than that, I was personally disappointed to realized that nothing else I've experienced from Prince's career has really struck me all that hard- neither on an emotional nor intellectual level. I wonder if I'm just one of the "spoiled" cases that I mentioned before.

Or maybe I just need to finally see Prince perform in person one day... that might be the amazing experience that substantiates my fandom once and for all.

Listening to Small Club for the very first time was more satisfying and moving than the first time I ever had sex.

Yes, we fans are a spoiled bunch! But there are two songs in particular that come to my mind and make me smile and love him and his gift. His performance of "Somewhere Here On Earth" on Jay Leno sent chills down my spine. His vocals were on point!! And listening to "Future Soul Song" for the 1st time with tears streaming down my face, thinking to myself...how lucky I am to have an Artist touch me like that...
