why no computer blue? Since this track is one of his most loved, why hasn't he performed it in such a long time (apart from a snippet during Empty Room live). If he skipped the sexy intro ('Is the water warm enough...'), I can't see why he should have any religious objections to this song as he still performs more salacious material now. I would just love to hear his take on that guitar solo in 2011!

Why no 100 other songs he could be playing either?

Because we all want to hear the same songs played over and over and over and over and over and over!

Because Prince isn't selling tickets to people who know what Computer Blue is.

I wondered the same thing cuz the lyrics are not that bad.
Where is my love life? Where is my love life? Till I find the righteous one Oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Probably one of, if not THE funkiest stanky Prince ever let loose, he needs to bring that back again

But there are TONS of people who know what Computer Blue is. It was prominently in the Purple Rain movie, right before the infamous Darling Nikki, so you KNOW people definitely know this song! They're the same ones who know what Baby I'm a Star is.

This just isn't true. Computer Blue was never a famous song, not as famous as LGC, BIAS, IWD4U, etc. It's relatively obscure considering it's the only song on the album which didn't have any obvious scandal or notoriety attached to it. (People might know "Darling Nikki" because of the PMRC. The rest were singles or covered by megastars recently - aka "The Beautiful Ones".)
It depends on how you define this tier of fandom, the fan who shows up to the show to hear Prince play the hits. Do you think those fans really have an appreciation for tracks Prince doesn't play live often and are considerably popular amongst the internet fan community? To me, GH tours and albums are marketed to people who don't have a bunch of Prince records, people that don't know Prince did stuff beyond ____, etc. To me, Computer Blue falls in the category of songs that are just short of the average fan's consciousness (especially when compared to the consciousness of the fans on Prince.org).

I think that it is a well appreciated song in amongst the fans as nerdy as ourselves, so given that there are subtle examples of Prince taking note of what people like us fans want with Question of U and She's always in my hair, both of which can fall under the lesser known tracks, you never know. I think that it would more than likely go down at an aftershow, cause IMO it is one of Prince's best tracks, so here's hoping it will come back.

Don't you think those people would be familiar with the movie Purple Rain and therefore familiar with that song? I think most of the general fans that come to a show would know it
U don't have to respond, I read your response to a similar question above [Edited 1/2/11 9:19am]
