Just because Prince is basing the instrumentation of a song on acoustic guitar should we say it's a Joni Mitchell influence?

NOTHING on those songs makes me think of Joni. Same for Condition Of The Heart.

This thread reminds me of one of those W&L threads. lol Didn't he already said countless times who is influences are? Joni is just one out of many of his musical influences, but I don't think of Joni when I listen to some of his earlier songs other than 1 or 2, that's .at all. What I hear in much of his music is JB, Carlos Santana (funk/latin sounds); Chuck Berry and Ike Turner, Betty Mabry-Davis (those 4 for his rock/blues fusion sounds), Stylistics, Delfonics, Smokey Robinson, (r&b slow jams); George Benson, Jose Feliciano (smooth, jazzy ballads), just to name several. I'm sure there's many more, but Joni does not come close to getting all the credit. Just my two cents.
