Tamborine is the best thing off of AWTIAD I'm sorry but I listened to this song last night and it is some of the funkiest shit I've heard from Prince. I did not like AWTIAD that much but just this song alone makes the whole album bearable. I mean don't get me wrong there is some good stuff there (condition of the heart, pop life,paisley park) but it just doesn't hold that well.

AMERICA. I can jam to that for hours - or at least 21 minutes on the 12 inch. The 12-inch MAKES that song the best one off of that record. Unless of course, you're willing to count SHE'S ALWAYS IN MY HAIR - which would MOST DEFINITELY be the best thing off that album - but it's not on the album, so it doesn't count. BUT DAMN. AMERICA Temptation Raspberry Beret and on, and on down to the 2 seconds between trk 1 and 2, the 2 seconds between 2 and 3, 3 and 4 4 and 5 etc, and THEN Condition of the Heart. What a piece of crizzle THAT shizzle is. What, did he forGET to turn off the echo chamber on that song? Sheesh. I just can't take that one... the "dance the dance electric!" call to arms. You are so right. Were you to take away the songs you mentioned, plus title track, The Ladder, Rasberry Beret and America, this album just wouldn't be bearable. Really underrated.
Tambourine is great, but I think ‘Condition of the heart’ is one of his best songs of all time. Actually as Prince is the greatest artist in the world, that would make it one of the best songs of all time. In my opinion America and Temptation are also just as good as Tambourine. | |
