& 70's bands....kinda political..Well I just heard the song in a video ... all you see is complete darkness LOL ... and although the audio is very very bad, the song sounded great!!! And I am not one who has been very impressed with all of Prince's recent new songs, but this one put a big smile on my face while I thought "yeah, I really really like that!" | |

The song sounded funky and cool.
I could not catch most of the lyrics. I heard 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and Barack Obama mentioned in one lyric. I think the audience didn't know what the hell he was talking about in the song, so they didn't know how to respond to it. [Edited 12/19/10 10:51am] | |

I only have an atrocious cell phone video to judge by, *ears bleeding*, but this sounds promising. While "Black Muse" sounded like it came from the same batch as "Hot Summer" and "Rich Friends", this is very different - sort of a brooding funk. I hope this isn't just a concert intro, and a proper studio version is on the way. If this is the direction his next album is taking, my interest is piqued. | |

i can't get that bassline 2 this song out of my head
the song is very policital/social commentary

Welcome to America was a very strong opening! He played "Lay It Down" one of the nights. That was some funky stuff. Can't wait to hear the new album and more new stuff live! (I also really liked "Black Muse"). | |

so far, based on a truly poor quality sounding audience video recording it sounds like a slow, plodding, boring funk jam with P doing his spoken rap. Think of Peope without only with 1% of it's creativity! Black muse sounds like 'Don't you forget about me' by simple minds to these ears!. | |
