'If I Was Prince' Tribute on Vinyl : Rare??? Found it today I decided to hit my fave sf record store ( not amoeba). And I found a copy of 'If I Was Prince' on vinyl. I've never seen it on vinyl before, in person or on eBay I paid $5 for it. In this same store about a year ago, I found a birthday edition of Gett Off for $3. Just wondering if I made another good score. Does anyone know if this is scarce / worth anything? I just gave it a spin and I really like it. The artwork and liner notes r great 2. Thanks for your help. |

I remember this. I don't think it is very rare (i just did a quick search, there are quite a few copies for sale) more of an oddity. But then i could be wrong, i often am. Nice you got it for $5.

If you ever find a promo called "My Name Was Prince" for $5 then you should be very excited indeed.

In fact, eil have had this a loooong time (i wonder why?), it was in the thousands before (no kidding), it drops in price every now and then.

i was just glad to find this, its always a 'rush' finding a record i havent seen before..
can i ask where you found the copies for sale?
i can only find the CD for sale but not the VINYL LP? i did see a vinyl single for sale, but i cant find the vinyl LP anywhere.

oh yeah, im always on the hunt for my name was prince... or 'his majesty's pop life'... you never know.. there could be a record store employee pricing it, not knowing it is anything rare.. thinking it is the regular 'pop life' single... it happens.. i think that is how i got my 'gett off' white jacket single...
anyway... if you could let me know where you found the vinyl for 'if i was prince' , id really appreciate it.

^^ Please accept my apology, the copies i found on Amazon were cd not vinyl.
I found out that there is a promo 10" vinyl of If I Was Prince (not for sale) it has 3 tracks and is limited to 500 copies (according to eil.com).
I can't seem to find a vinyl copy of the album at all, so it may be that your copy is rare indeed.
