i didn't know there was a video to this lovely song?? my dvd set goes to like 1996 then a few oddball ones on disc 7. of course what i've seen/found on youtube or other sites...well i'll google it. about to watch it..

i haven't really searched for new ones on youtube in awhile i just watch all the ones ppl share on fb

Willing and Able: that live feel this vid has is so nice.

Girls & Boys: the b/w and continued styling of the movie makes it really fit the project. The Revolution being there is cool as well

To be honest, i think the majority of Prince video's are subpar because he often tends to go for too simple (quasi-) live video's (all those Dirty Mind - Controversy - 1999 video's), or he simply doesnt use enough budget to produce them (Alphabet Street, many of his mid-nineties video), or he decides to direct them himself (the Graffiti Bridge video's), but there are some strong exceptions:

Raspberry Beret:

Charming retro-psychedelic video combining live-action with animations. I love the cloud-suit also.

Kiss:

Simple indeed, but very effective: just like the song itself. Great use of decor, choreography, lighting and a slice of humour (him fooling around with Wendy).

Girls and Boys:

Of course its in essence nothing more then a film-clip, but the black-and white filming, the choreography and again a quirky sense of humor just fit the song like a glove.

Sign of the Times:

I know that many on here hate this video, or don't like it at least, but to me its one of his very best. At that time it was unheard of some major artist delivering this kind of 'left field' video. To me its a bold move and the video does what it should do: it makes you focus on the lyrics of the song and the sober graphic designs echo the effective stripped down arrangement of the song.

I Could Never take the place of your man:

I know, i have said i aint to fond of the 'performancevideo's' from Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999. But those video's seemed to be recorded in the studio without an audience, and appear rather cold and clinic to me. This one (really live-recorded or not...the opinions differ) at least echoes the experience of Prince performing live on stage at his peak. What helps a lot IMO is that this arrangement of I could never take the place of your man and the delivery by Prince and the band pisses all over the recorded version: its so lively, playfull, full of energy, and i love the added horns in the arrangement.

... after watching VH1 Soul this past weekend and having the opportunity to see P's videos layed out one at a time, it's kinda hard to pick my favorite. I love 'My Name Is Prince' and 'T.M.B.G.I.T.W.', 'Te Amo Corrazon' is HOT ... 'Black Sweat' gets ya moving ... See what I mean ... LoL ...

Don't even get me started about 'Black Sweat', when it was first released - I watched it constantly for a few weeks. I couldn't get over how good he looked, and still can't!

Apart from 'Black Sweat' - I love the clips for 'Willing & Able', 'Gett Off' & 'Violet The Organ Grinder'.

America. I can watch it over and over right up to the point where Prince gets on the drums.
