Adore is my favourite (one & only) from SOTT, but Pink Cashmire is better. So evil girl, if one of us has a date,

Adore all the way: very strong composition, very warm-sounding, organic production with some original touches for a soul ballad (the use of harp and citar) and some of his most impressive background vocal-work (including the angelic choir-ending). One of his classic retro-soul ballads from the eighties, probably the best.
I never have loved Pink Cashmere. I dont think its a bad song at all, but composition- and arrangementwise i think its simply far below Adore. Next to that, it is one of his first songs that incorporated elements of contemporary / hitparade R&B in its sound: a style of music i really detest and unfortunately he began to record these type of songs more and more often from then on. I really do not like songs like Big White Mansion, The Greatest Romance, Future Baby Mama en Mr. Goodnight, and I see Pink Cashmere as one of his first songs in this vein (not necessarily in terms of songwriting, but more in terms of production).

Adore is the greatest song in the history of mankind!!!!!!
ADORE... all the way... but Pink Cashmere is a precious gem!
They're 1 and 2 on my all-time list of Prince ballads. The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

I'll go with 'Adore.' It just makes more sense to me. I have adored someone, but I've never made anyone a coat of pink cashmere or any other material.

Love your humor Quasar, but... ironically, that's what makes Pink Cashmere such a special song. The fact that Prince would have so much feeling for someone, that he wanted the most precious material, and the most caring of colors, and created a coat from it to secure his loved one, and wrap her all up in it.
The song is deeper than a casual listener can imagine.
"You got to know how I feel about you."
That's what the song is all about. Just an AMAZING ballad.
... For Prince to say "100% Italian silk imported Egyptian lace, nothing compares to your lovely face." ... is just ethereal. Who thinks of that?!?!?!
The songs are cousins in that respect. You also hear elements of Nothing Compares 2 U in Adore.
Adore is simply a masterpiece to rival all others. The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Both fantastic songs. But I think I prefer the love professed in Pink Cashmere. Something about it seems less conditional or expectant of return on investment.
Musically, too, I think the strings and guitar solo of Pink Cashmere add an exhileration that I don't feel in the sort of slinkier, sexier environment of Adore. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

WINNER AND STILL CHAMPION ...... ADORE !
How many "Night Storms" across the country was playing this song late at night and it was never an official single?

Never been able to stand "Adore", really. It's not that I find it too soppy or anything -- it just really grates on me the way the vocals are performed; Prince at his worst!
"Pink Cashmere", on the other hand, is really rather good. The music is gorgeous and the singing isn't bad either -- very reminiscent of "Scandalous" in certain places. "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

I prefer Adore, but listen to Pink Cashmere more often. As someone said earlier, Adore is just too rich - I can't take too much of it. -Silk

Exactly! But if I had to choose one, it would be Adore by a slimmest of margins. Peace and be wild!

I like Adore a bit more. I always get a picture in my mind of Prince knitting with his glasses on when I hear Pink Cashmere. Also when Prince talks the line " I'm makin' you a coat of cashmere" it sounds a little too pre-contrived for me.

To me Pink Cashmere is B-side quality, definitely not some masterpiece. The composition is generic, the instrumentation is too contemporay R&B for its own good. Adore is like 10 times better in every aspect.
