I can't look inside his head, and he is no close friend of me, so its all assumptions coming from me.

But what annoys me in the first place here is people blaming Larry Graham for Prince calling himself a Jehovah Witness.

Prince made his own decision to follow that cult. Yes, Baby gregory might have died, Mayte might have left him, his parents might have died also, but it was his own choice to go in that direction. In turmoiled times people sometimes make that kind of choices.

I am a bit older and wiser know then when i became a Prince fan in 1987 (at least, i hope...lol), but when you look back at his lyrics, you can see that the provocations he used himself out of insecurity / a desire to be accepted (wearing stockings during the Dirty Mind-era, Darling Nikki-grinding, feeling guilty about some XTC-trip which made him release Lovesexy instead of the Black album: get a fucking life man!) were projections of a rather insecure, and deep inside rather conservative man.

To put it straight: Prince is a not very intelligent man who believes all kind of religious shit will influence him, a rather oddball person who would have never made it to university, because he is too shortminded to set his mind to rest. As a human or thinker Prince is definitely no example for me, far from that.. lol

Probably the same reason that most people turn to organized religion. He was scared, couldn t make sense of his life and picked a religion that he could feel secure in.

I hear what you're saying Cornelius and speaking as a Sunni Muslim African American brother from the South Side of Chicago, Prince does not speak for me either. He's a gifted musician who chose the Jehovah's Witness way of life to be his defining moment when it comes to things of a religious nature.

Just like you can have someone follow up my comment and say the same thing about me or shall I say Cat Stevens (bka Yusuf Islam). We choose what we choose, it's all subjective. I'm not going to sit here and defend my man PRN. I'm a 41yr old man and I have better things to do, like raise my son and be a husband to my wife. He's chose his bed to lay in and I am just a fan or his art or musical genius. Anyone I care for personally, I would hope they are doing the things that could get them in heaven and if P says anything about that, we all know he WANTS to go to heaven.

This just reminds me how my momz is always in awe of me and my love for P's music. I just do not put myself in the position to have momz question me. I know what to say and not to say to get a rise out of her. We all know with the people we know in our inner circle what we can do or say that'll piss em off or make em happy or what have you.

None of us can speak for PRN because as you said, we dont' know him. We do know his music and we do understand what makes him tick, or I like to think I do with evidences of his music.

All we know is PRN is a JW that's a musical genius ... nuff said ...

He went through a period of questioning whether there is a God after his baby boy died, something which affected him very, very deeply. He would speak about this with Larry Graham, who convinced him to become a JW.

That was always my understanding of why Prince became a Jehovah's Witness. nod

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
