"Who the hell wants to sit at home and watch a show online?"

I was asked that question on a locked thread, in response to my saying, "Prince STILL hasn't grasped the concept that he could STREAM his concerts live online and make a quick fortune."

Since I'm just "such the hater that I can't stand to see P do well"...I wanna know!

If you could...who would PAY Prince to see one or all of the Welcome 2 America shows...streamed online (most certainly handled by someone other than Prince and his crew)...in good quality...Live... in the comfort of your home?

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I totally support the idea but if I'm gonna pay him for anything it would for me to actually BE there and see him dance his little red hot pants off. lol

I would, but IF the shows go elsewhere, it diminishes the value. People have already seen the show, or are not willing to pay high ticket prices, presuming the online price would be less.

Streaming the last show of a tour would make more sense.

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

How many of us watched the New Years Eve show back in 1999 (?) ?

It's just pay-per-view online.

Not everyone is in NJ or NYC, or close enough to go.

Not a bad idea.

I'm with Mars23 on this one. It would need to be the last show of a tour or like the New Years show, a one time show.

I'd pay to watch it LIVE. Not edited to death. Hell I'd watch that to, but live would be better.

Only in HD and surround sound. Pay per view. I wouldn't be interested in less. Prince already did this with the Musicology concert that was shown live in theaters.

He also did this with Lovesexy Live in 1988 in Europe.

But I would not in 2010 pay for or enjoy anything in less quality then 1080i with surround sound.

I think if he set up a deal with Netflix so it could stream right to your tv, or whatever device, would be great.

Even better is if a promoter came up with an app to be able to switch to different camera angles so you can choose to watch the keyboardist, drummer or whatever instead of whatever angle someone else chose.

I fully understand that because that's a given. We'd ALL rather be there! Hell, wouldn't we ALL rather have BEEN there for his Super Bowl performance or his Rock & Roll HOF Induction, when they happened?

YES!

Wasn't watching it from the comfort of your home...the next best thing?

YES!

My point is...we cannot always BE there. No matter how much...we may very well want to be. So wouldn't it make good business sense to utilize the technology that IS available for the benefit of ALL parties concerned?

A one show deal would be cool. But let's be real about it, we are talking about Prince fans. There is a huge segment of that population that would happily pay for a multiple show deal...just because. shrug

Well as you can see some would pay and some said they would not and that it would have to be the last show of the tour so you see your opinion is just your opinion a lot P fans are going to go to multiple shows and P knows that he is not going stream or do a pay for view for a one off show when he may do a full tour. ( we really do not know if this is the beginning of a tour or not ) Say what you want to about him he knows how to put asses in the seats most of the time and I do not see him streaming anything in the near future being as he does see the net as being economically viable for him.

I've always enjoyed watching HD live concert performances. Not only do you get all the best angles but you also get to watch it comfortably in your own house. It is the best substitute for those of us unable to drop everything at the drop of the hat to fly out 500 miles to watch Prince preform live. Admittedly, if I had the choice I would choose in person over a streamer but it would do if financially or physically I can't go.

Prince could do what Todd Rundgren has been doing. Take some selected shows after this round of the tour is finished and put them online for three weeks as a PPV for $20 per viewing.

By P having different guests each show would have it's own uniqueness and it wouldn't discourge people from going to see his show at all.

It would reaffirm to everyone what a great musician he is.

I for one would love to see the upcoming show with he and Janelle Monae.

That's kind of cool but I don't think I'd pay for a show that I couldn't keep a copy of for myself.
