I Don't Care What Anyone Says LotusFlow3r is a Great Album!

I just listened to this on the way to work this morning, and saying right here, right now, its a jammin set of tunes. I have to admit, after getting shafted from his doomed website, this set left a bad tast im my mouth the months after it came out. But after sitting on it for awhile the only song I truly don't like is that 77 Beverly Place. The rest are good, if not great songs. Boom, Crimson, Colorized Mind, Wall of Berlin, $, and Dreamer are as good as anything he's done. The rest is highly listenable. The last 4 songs (Wall to Back to the Lotus) especially listened to in order is the best thing he's done since Gold Experience.

Still don't care for MLPSound or Bria's album.

Ok, I've said my peace.

Very good album. And I believe almost everybody liked or truly liked this album when it came out (it was MLPS which got mixed or hostile reviews here)

Only Vitriol disliked Lotus, but he...hmm...nevermind lol

Great album. His best album in a very, very long time.

And I know it's even more popular, but I really like MPLSound too. When people say they don't like this combo, it's hard for me to imagine exactly what it is that they would be happy with from Prince.

Finally got this set about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't expecting something this good. Lotus flower is up there with Sign O the Times. His best since Gold Experience.

To me it's another mediocre album, very predictable, much like a more commercial version of TRC. There's not one song I'd classify as great. His use of voice effects doesn't sound too convincing, more like a desperate try to make this retro stuff sound hipper than it is.

Didn't parts of it sound kinda gay?

So true I recently listened to the whole thing, before I would only listen to the songs I knew off the album instead of all of them but I like MPLSound them most

We could have big fun 💜

Lotus Flow3r is awesome - the man's finest hour during the 2000s, I'd say.

MPLSound doesn't work for me at all (save for the brilliant U're Gonna C Me and Here)

Elixer is actually fairly pleasant. I like it, insubstantial as it is.

I've seen the future, and boy it's rough...

I think a lot of people since the birth of the internet have become co-dependent. Meaning that they have to have someone else tell them what to like.

Lotus was/is a great album that I listen to on the regular.

I like the Lotusflow3r disc quite a bit and have from the first listen. I don't think it's classic, but imo it's brushing up against great. I really liked MPLSound when the set was first released, but now I find most of it to be pretty damn close to awful (weird, I know). Still think the same thing about Elixir that I always have; it's got two or three good songs and the rest of it is insulting. It should have been another album of Prince songs (meaning, sung by him with the production and instrumentation he would have done for himself).

I really don't understand some of the people here who always feel a need to poop on this site in order for yet another needless and pointless Prince "defense".

Lotusflower gets a lot of love on this site. 2010, MPLSsound and Elixer much less, but Lotusflower is widely appreciated. Whether it's your musical cup of tea or not, objectively speaking, the quality of the songwriting, performance and production on this album is obviously very high.

If you google this site and read up on it, I am sure you will see that most people on this site share that view.

I agree with U, I never have a problem with admitting if something is good even if I don't like it that much.

I've tried and listened often but I just don't like Lotusflow3r, I guess it's a fav 4 those who love TRC (I like 1+1+1=3, She loves me and a few others) . But it's a fact that the quality of this album is high and that he maybe was more inspired

when he made Lotus than when he made 20Ten...but I still prefer 20Ten.

MPLSound on the other hand is great imo.(Dance 4 me,U're gonna C,Ol'skool...)

3121 and Musicology are my fav from this decade.

I really like LotusFlow3r too! I've been having it since it came out and still play it - I'm trying to have Bria's cd grow on me but it's a slow process -I really like only 3 or 4 songs on her cd and that's good in my book. cool wink

Good to hear I am not alone here. After posting this I decided to give MLPS another try and my opinion about that one has not changed. I can't find Bria's CD.

hahaha @ can't find Bria's cd - My Elixer song skips right on the second verse sad I really enjoy Everytime (only b/c a video makes me like songs), Elixer, Here I come, and Something you already know. I'm starting very slowly but Home is growing on me(only b/c I seen someone made a video for it -well, it matches the song) I 40% like the song - it might change b/c it's growing on me.

Um... let me warm up my vocals
Me ME ME ME ME...U U U U U!

I periodically go back and spin this disc and I have to say, the back to back of Wall of Berlin and Dreamweaver is becoming my all time favorite 1-2 Rock punch that Prince has done.

Both songs get better and better with repeated listens. The underlying musicianship is genius.
