Were you at the Purple Rain Concert in 84' ? Were you at the 'Purple Rain' Concert, what City and venue?
My best friend's cousins went to the concert. They had alot of fun. They brought us back posters, e.t.c. They went to see Prince at MSG, New York. I have the VHS. Your best moments/memories of that concert are?

I have that concert on VHS also..
Seriously, I did attend the show in Long Beach, CA in March of 1983 before Purple Rain came out. It was the show with Vanity 6 and The Time. But, I was in college at the time so my sisters and I had to use public transportation to get to Long Beach from L.A. so I missed Vanity 6 on stage (thank God for boots-now I have the actual concert on my ipod). Boy, this is taking me back.... .
Anyhoo, now I saw Prince during the Purple Rain tour, I believe it was at the Forum or Sports Arena here in L.A.
HOWEVER, I do remember my FIRST Prince concert which was at The Santa Monica Civic on February 12, 1982!!!! OMG I love that man.... [Edited 12/20/10 12:42pm] "A united state of mind will never be divided

I saw it in Chicago at the Rosemont Horizon.
I was so far away that I couldn't see much of anything (this was before the Jumbotron days), so what I remember most is driving in pouring rain from Madison to Chicago, then getting lost trying to get back on the interstate to go home.
And (of course), I remember what I wore - black leather pants, purple angora sweater, and purple suede and snakeskin boots. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

1983-1984? My junior year in high school? I was so lucky! I lived in the Detroit area, his second home!
24hour notices were common and 2 hours we all we needed to fill an arena!
Yep! was there!
In fact I was there for just about every concert prior to Purple Rain Fame.
Prince really was Detroit's "Private Joy!"
Oh yeah so was The Time, Vanity / Appolonia 6 was too!
Detroit Loved the Minnesota Sound! It was OURS!

Oh wow raelly??? That was like the only Indiana show. I've noticed u've been 2 a lot of concerts in and around the midwest areas (Chicago, Detroit, Indana, most likely etc.) Very cool Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

I was at Greenboro November 1984. It was early for the official Purple Rain Tour. It wasn't a perfect show and he worked out a lot of kinks by the end of the tour(there's plenty of DVD enough evidence floating around to prove it). The energy of the audience was so high that he could have sung anything and the crowd would have roared their approval. The highlight was definitely the 20 minute version of "Purple Rain". I'm not being cynical, and I've seen every major tour since then, but this show and the Hit & Run tour were probably his weakest show performance wise. Not to say that it wasn't incredibly exciting to be there, but he really seemed to try harder and put on a better show with the Lovesexy, Emancipation, Musicology tours.

I think it was Jan or Feb 1985. Riverfront in Cincinnati. I remember waiting in the freezing cold overnight with my room mates from Miami University for tickets the morning they went on sale. (This was before the internet!) I'm old...

Yes I was at 2 of the 5 DC performances at the old Capitol Center in Landover, MD. I was right back there for both Lovesexy performances. Before Purple Rain, it was the Triple Threat Tour at the DC Stadium Armory; Prince, The Time and Vanity 6. Magical nights my friend.

Yes, in fact, the Purple Rain tour was the first time I ever saw Prince in concert. I went to the show in Cleveland, Ohio at the Richfield Coliseum (which has since been torn down).
Wow, thinking about the Purple Rain tour brings back so many great memories! I was young back then (22 years old) and I wouldn't mind going back to that night and do it all over again. It was soooooooooo much fun! I remember my ears were ringing for like two whole days after the concert was over. So worth it!! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yes, I was 15. My mom had to take me! I lived in Illinois, but missed out on the on sale for the Chicago run. That Indianapolis show was added mid tour. I think he's done Indy more than just the Purple Rain tour though. Didn't he do the ONA tour and an aftershow there? I moved to Minneapolis in 91 and still went back to Chicago to see him a few times after I had moved. The Chicago audiences kick ass! Minneapolis...not so much. I'm at right about 80 shows now, hoping to add more! TRUE BLUE

Yes. Nassau Coliseum. I had two sets of tix and my mother made me give a pair to my sister. I could not go to sleep that night! I stayed awake all night long and went to high school the next day.

Yeah he did ONA here and the aftershow in Noblesville, IN. I was just saying that was the only Purple Rain Indiana show. Wow, I would think the Minni Apple would be more excited about their purple highness, but I guess. Chicago, my hometown, knows where it's at when it comes to somethin' fresh! Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!
