The site officially came offline on July 3rd 2006 with this message.....

"Greetings Family,

The NPG Music Club has been in xistence 4 more than 5 years. In that time we've learned a great deal from each other and about this brave new online world we have all chosen 2 b part of. The members we have been 4tunate enough 2 have join r family have truly made this the best music club any artist could ever dream of. And all the things we have been a part of 2gether -- the concerts, the celebrations, the soundchecks, the discussions and the un4gettable music -- have shown us what a New Power Generation can truly b. We thank u from r hearts 4 sharing urselves and ur love of the music with all of us. It has been a blessing.

Once the NPG Music Club won the 2006 Webby Award, discussions within the NPG began 2 center on what was next. What’s the next step in this ever-changing xperiment? The achievements of the past cannot be questioned and we are truly grateful 4 everything that has been accomplished. But in its current 4m there is a feeling that the NPGMC gone as far as it can go. In a world without limitations and infinite possibilities, has the time come 2 once again make a leap of faith and begin anew? These r ?s we in the NPG need 2 answer. In doing so, we have decided 2 put the club on hiatus until further notice.

The NPG Music Club was a first step; the lessons learned will last 4ever. Now comes a time of great reflection and restructuring. The future holds nothing but endless opportunity and we plan on seizing it wholeheartedly. Don’t u want 2 come?

Yes, and they 'learnt the lessons' so well that then they put up lotusfailure.com and charged everyone $77 for virtually nothing and (if you were lucky) a flea-market t-shirt.

I thought about joining the Lotusflow3r site but didn't get around 2 it!

From all accounts i'm kinda glad i didn't!!

I thought Year One was really cool. $100 membership. First off, you got Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic CD mailed to you. You got 2-3 songs, an hour-long Ahdio show (typo intentional) and at least one video per month. The songs were mostly from the Chocolate Invasion/Slaughterhouse era (i.e. the "High" sessions). A bit plastic, but pretty good stuff nonetheless. The videos were really low quality, par for the course for the early 2000s.

Year Two was the one that got people pissed off. Also $100, this time there were 4 new albums promised that actually were given names in printed tour programs. Prince released ONE album of new material (One Nite Alone - Piano And Voice), then reneged on the promise of 3 more albums by releasing the 3-CD One Nite Alone - Live! After being reported to the Better Business Bureau by countless fans, he hastily released C-Note (slang for a $100 bill) and Xpectation (another jab at fans' expecations).

Either way, both years of NPGMC delivered FAR more than the LotusFlow3r website.

One interested "bonus" of the despised Year Two: Prince included an extra copy of One Nite Alone - Piano in the 3-CD live box set (essentially making it a 4-CD box set). This was available only to NPGMC members, not the ones in stores. Some think that Prince did this knowing that fans would/could sell that extra copy and recoup some money.

I loved that site as well and never felt ripped off by anything I got or didn't get there. The site was nice and fun to visit. There was solid content. There were exclusives for interested fans. I bought member area tickets to see him play here in Portland and it was a FANTASTIC deal. The tickets were completely affordable and I was right in the 4th row. Amazing. Lotusflower.com on the other hand, reeked of bad news from the start. I never paid for access to that site and from what I hear, I didn't miss out on anything.

People cried about NPGmusicclub just like they cried about Lotusflow3r. I remember complaints about paying $100 to join. It was well worth it if you took advantage of what was offered. THe monthly video and audio downloads where rare and/or unreleased for the most part. The ahdio shows were fun. But the big deal was being abloe to get the best seats on concerts, free aftershows, and soundchecks. This made it more than with the membership fee. I was froint row at 4 concerts and 2 aftershows because I was a loyal NPGMC member from day one.

Lotusflow3r was not nearly as good - but when you consider all the files you could have downloaded, it was worth the $77 for me. I would have paid that much to buy those video and audio files if they were for sale. I got the T shirt but my massive muscles will not fit into it.

Yeah, I got into NPGmusicclub.com in early 04' and I'd say the experience was generally positive. I paid I think something to the tune of $50 for a "lifetime membership" ha ha ha ha

But for the most part I was pretty happy with what I got. I really liked the cheesy site where you navigated his mansion, and it was cool the way you could buy virtual B sides for musicology. (what I wouldn't give for some 3121 b sides.

Also the merchandise selection was just the right type of terrible. I ordered a shirt and some incense and a cd, and it all arrived promptly (unlike LotusFailur3 shirts)

NPGmusicclub was done perfectly. It's funny to see how far backwards Prince has come since then in terms of web sites and fan relations.

You know, I really miss this website, I can't hate on it.. I believe I got my money's worth during the times i joined.. It allowed me to see Prince in the front row for the first time.. and it gave us fans great stuff like the radio shows and tons of unreleased music every month.. I am glad I waited around before joining Lotusflow3r.com lol because that WAS a screwjob.

Hmm ... Interesting thread when this emale was written. I've heard / read that Manuela was the brainchild of the NPG Music Club and perhaps one of the reasons the group or site folded because the 'divorced' was immanent ...
