Some dude played it on his sports talk show last weekend as an intro but I forget who. His guest was saying what a great song choice that was but pointed out how melancholy it is. The host wasn't aware of it I guess.

People need to be reminded he was an the height of has career sales wise.
It is a brilliant song by itself and needs to be played for that reason.

Its a great song but its depressing and there are lots of suicides around the holidays. Its a very well written song but kinda "anti" in terms of mood.

Okay, well there's a lot of depression around the holidays. There's NO DENYING THAT no matter what website statistic you post. The song IS depressing, which is why you don't hear it as much as others. Most people want to be happy and "in the spirit" around Christmas and not wallowing in sorrow.

I think it's not so much about death but a break up on Christmas Eve.
I think it's a misunderstood song. Thats why it's so brilliant, thats why it should be played.
In my top 10 of best all time songs. God Instrumental is there as well. You can hear the magic of his genius in both of them.

a few reasons, one is some of the darkness, but u know what, all xmas songs for the most part are fucking sad and depressing. But also its a b-side and what radio station is looking for a B-side. Also Prince never came across as an artist to do a xmas song or to highlight that he did one, which is why it was a bside, xmas was just the date the chick died, nothing else, its not about wreaths and santa. Good point. I had to have my daughter Before Christmas Day. My GF was with her family. I was cool with all that and in good spirits. Went to east at the casino, and there were playing Christmas music. And I was not sad or anything. But it kept feeling like I should be because I was there by myself. Then I thought, hell throw in Another Lonely Christmas and it will be just like any other song I am hearing. LOL!
