P gave a very interesting answer, to paraphase him, "I see you, I see Morris, I see everyone in this room..." If P and Bria are a happy couple, why didn't he claim her as his girl. The one that he is presently seeing?

I occasionally get asked about my relationship status in interviews too, and I never answer it. When I'm doing an interview I'm there to talk about my music. That's it. My wife doesn't get offended by it because she knows how I feel. Some people are comfortable with discussing their relationship in public, and some people are not. Prince is one of those who is not.

With Mayte it was different because she was in the band. And back in the day he'd appear with Vanity on magazine covers etc because she was also an artist as well as being someone he was dating. Aside from those two, Prince generally keeps his personal and professional lives separate.

I think his personal life is not anyone's business but his. And he doesn't have to explain to anybody why he would not anser some questions.

And everyone can be curious and wanting to know and ask him about it. And he's free not to answer. However, I prefer interviews about his music, instruments, artistic choices...and I consider his personal opinions relevant when interpreting his lyrics and music.

Yeah, you never talk about your personal life on the air. Sometimes they try to spring it on you. The less professional ones, usually. Prince did the right thing. Folks can question his motives for doing it all they want. But he did the right thing.

I dont think it is a diss, I think he doesn't want people bothering her or all up in his business. As much as we might wish he was not with Bria, or maybe he has someone else, we will never know.

I can tell you one thing, it will always be a mystery.. or maybe he doesn't want to publicly go all out for someone and they break up in the long run:-o

That's a fair point, but Bria wasn't really an artist before she was with Prince. Mayte was (she had released some singles in Germany) and Vanity wasn't so much pushed into the limelight by Prince, she was already headed in that direction regardless.

I kinda get the impression that Prince did an album with Bria so that the time they spent together could be in a situation where he was firmly in control and a comfortable environment for him. I dunno. I see your point but it seems there's a difference between Bria and past girls who have made music with Prince. It's hard to pinpoint, but there is somewhat of a difference as far as I can see.

Prince interviews are a rare, rare thing, you'd think they'd make the most of it.

I'd be all about music and what's next for this tour. Everybody seems to be digging for gossip or wants his take on irrelevant topics. I'm glad he's doing the circuit and promoting the shows but these types of interactions are probably why he doesn't promote his stuff so heavy these days. sometimes it's better to just let the music speak for itself thans it thru another dumb interview.

That is 1 of the reasons I like him soooooooooooooooooooo much he keeps hie personal business out of the street! While other performers put there's in the street and it winds up in the tabloid mags and gossip shows!

Rude had it right with his post. It has nothing to do with Prince having a habit of not claiming women because, quite bluntly, Prince wipes his dick on every girl he is with's forehead to make sure everyone knows its his girl.

Whether or not Prince discusses the intimate details of his relationships is up to his discretion. Sometimes he is more open than others. It was quite clear throughout the entire interview that he was on a completely different level than these DJs. This has been a theme in these Welcome 2 America interviews, as well. When he repeatedly says, "Clean it up, deacon!" he isn't making some ethnic or religious joke, he is subtly telling them to stop asking him salacious questions and stop suggesting salacious shit. He's being a smart ass because they are not respecting him. Prince isn't a daft dude. If he senses an interviewer is not on his level, he will straight up play them. I refer you to the GMA interview where he pulls a cracker out of his pocket and smugly says he didn't eat breakfast. No, he was referring to the interviewer being a jive ass white cracker asking him some retarded questions.
