because you know I for one was getting very bored seeing her in all the videos etc - Same face, some old good dancing etc - she is a fine woman and I am very sad they broke up - but I am so glad she isn't there now and things have changed.

Do you guys think this because we as fans are used to change with Prince. He is always chopping and changing members of the NPG and we now get bored and ready for the next surprise like he does?

kind of? Shit..not dealing with his personal life but I always wished she was not a part of the music , vids etc..his love for his mate shouldn't have been shoved down our throats as nepotism. I'm REALLY sorry that his marriage ended, I know hearts were broken & that's sad I don't miss seeing her in the videos, though I understand him trying to fuse her in w/ the act. It got a little tired but we would have continued to except it had they stayed together...

I think people like Prince should marry those that are happy being in the background - when you're already famous & your mate is clamoring for what you have, you try to give it to them despite their lack of talent & it just turns out to be a bloody mess...

mayte was sooo annoying!!!

I was really not into Mayte at all. I think she was good for Prince because she made him happy for so long, but watching vids of the time when she was around just drives me nuts. She's everywhere and it just serves to irritate me.

Other than a peench of jealousy, her presence never bothered me.

I guess I am only one wishing she was still around. I didn't really care for her, but I still dug Prince and we got the masterpiece three cd set Emancipation, videos, and a great tour. If she was the imspiration, i'm all for it. I can't tell if he is married to Manni or Larry, either way, the music has been WACK since Mayte left the picture.

Really? I think he did write some great ballads when she was around - but I think he also had his most 'CRAP' music produced around then too. I agree her dancing was beautiful - no doubt about that - but it just got so boring. It was like oh Prince has a new video, lets see Mayte doing the same moves in the videos again. .

Mayte is a very beautiful woman, but her presence had become overwhelming. She was the star in the videos, there were pictures of her all over the NPG merchandise -- the posters, the video covers, the tour booklets, calenders all prominently featured Mayte. It became too much.

Yup, "Emancipation" was inspired by a love of his life, so she didn't bother me one bit, that's one of my favorite albums. I don't know about the dancing or the marketing, but some of those thing sounds kind of funny and wierd, like the 'money throwing' I mean why would he really want to do that to his wife, you know? But like a lot of his other wonderful music, it was inspired by the loves of his life...I like '3 chains' O' gold', I like Mayte in it, "The love symbol" is another favorite album, and I don't know the woman personally to say if I dislike her or not, because as far as from what I see about her, she's alright by me...
