What's ur favorite Prince Experience?

My favorite experience was is when I was 16 and Prince was on the Emancipation tour. I didn't think I was gonna go, cuz my mom told me she couldn't afford the tickets that year, but when christmas came she ended up buying me 2 tickets for the show and I could invite anybody I wanted. This was my first time I ever saw Prince perform live.
It was something truly specail. Prince put on the best performance that night, He played oldies but goodies along with a few new tunes. Right at the end of the show when Prince was having the finale a lady was sent to the hospital because she went into labor at the concert. They took the lady out on a wheel chair and into a ambulence, when I went home that night I know this was something I would never forget in a long time.

The one moment I will never forget is also the first time I ever saw him in concert. I can't even begin to describe how excited I was. I had been building up the moment in my head for so long, and then all of a sudden the spotlight came on and Prince just walked up to the mike and started in on Controversy. It was so strange just to see him there, a normal (tiny) person. I don't know what I had expected him to do, but it was just too surreal. Cheesy, I know...

Mine is probobly seeing him at Paisly Park, front and center, close enough to touch the guitar pedals. This was back in the day when it was possible to get that close to the front.

Mine was up front close enough to touch the guitar pedals at the Fillmore less than 2 years ago... not too far back in the day.

So many but I am gonna also say at the World was it 94 or so and that aftershow was great and then Roseland and then the whole Jam tour and this one and just well Trump Casino. I just have so many Fond moments and I just am so happy to Indeed have them. Prince has always brought me alot of Joy and Happiness and Fun. Even when I sneaked into things or stood in the cold or say him at Nells I just couldn't as dumb as it seems get enough of him. I wanted to just Kiss Him,but was too afraid being I loved him and thought him an Icon or well his bodyguards. But, I would get whipped into a freanzy each and every time and I always will. As long as he doesn't think me a complete Fool for getting in such a Tizzy over him. I can't help it. I know he's just a Man,but my Lord he just is Gorgeous. His music is so sweet and Emotionally moving. Oh, it just seems like all such a Fairy Tale and funny thing is his name is Prince... I hope I never wake up cause the high from the Endorphins is so Amazing...Truly is.

And at a party at PP..I went to go get some water and Prince was walking behind me, when I went back in the studio some girl standing there almost freaked out and said "oh my gosh , did you see, did you see, Prince was right behind you" Poor girl lol

I have too many to mention but a funny one was after the celebration concert from 2000 I shook his hand at Paisley Park and it was the limpest grip, like he had a stick of butter in his hand or maybe it was funk, anyhoo..

OK, can't pick just one, so among the faves...

Watching Mountains for the first time on TV, which made me into a fan.

My brother buying me all of Prince's albums for XMas up to Parade (back in '86) and spending XMas day and Boxing Day listening to them over and over.

Seeing my first live gig on his first night of the Lovesexy tour at Wembley Arena in London and leaving the venue absolutely speechless

Lots of ONA experiences this year, with the first Manchester gig being my fave night.

Cor, could keep going for ages, sorry!!!

The party/show at the Key club in Los Angeles. I was rubbing elbows with Julile White (Steve Ercle) from "Family Matters" and Halle Berry!!! 2 fine!!! It was for the release of "NewPowerSoul". For some reason Prince kept lookin up are way. I nodded my head as if to say " what's up?" and he responded in the same way. Too cool. I also got to meet Morris Hayes and Eric Benet that nite. Long live the club shows, cuz thats where it all happens!!!

I wrote the following for a website seeking submissions on great concert experiences of the 80s. It's my definitive reply to the question.

---

The Purple Rain Tour was my first concert...and it was absolutely amazing. I loved Prince and the whole Purple Rain phenomenon so I begged my parents to let me see the tour when it came to the Greenboro (NC) Coliseum.

My aunt (god bless her!) made the 45-minute trek from our hometown to the venue and waited amidst pure pandemomium to buy my ticket while I was at school. Both shows sold out in less than 30 minutes, but my aunt got me a great seat nonetheless: 7th row center. (Note: a third show was later added and also sold out in minutes.)

On the day of the second show (which I would be attending), there was an incredible electricity in the air at my school. Even though there weren't many students who had gotten tickets, a few of the "cool" kids had been to the show the night before and were puffing themselves up by talking about the "greatest concert ever." I was so excited I could barely stand it.

Walking into the Coliseum that night among the women in their bustiers, leather miniskirts and fishnet stockings and the guys in their purple jackets, purple bandannas and round-lensed sunglasses, I knew this experience was going to surpass even my wildest dreams. And it did!

Sheila E. opened the show with her band and was great. "The Glamorous Life" had been a big hit and everybody was thrilled when she played it at the end of her set. And then we waited about 30 minutes while the tension mounted.

Just when the crowd was about to collapse from the anticipation, a voice rang through the loudspeaker: "Good Evening, Greensboro. My name is Prince...and I've come to play with you!" With that, thousands of silk flowers rained down on us from the ceiling, the screen dropped from the front of the stage and there was the entire band rocking out the opening riff of "Let's Go Crazy." The roar from the audience was deafening.

The next two hours were a blur of spins, splits and blistering guitar solos. "Purple Rain," the closing song, lasted at least 15 minutes. And when it was over, I could barely believe that I had been in the same room with the person whose movie I had seen four times that summer and whose album I had worn out and replaced from too much play.

I smiled for weeks after that concert. It was truly one of the happiest nights of my life and it's a memory that I cherish.

---

Peace, David

ive got a few moments myself cause of glam slam la. my favorite was his dancers were performing in the resturant and my friend and i were too short to see, so we just danced to the music. after the performance i just knew he was gone. i was getting my groove on and turned around and he was watching me dance. my favorite was when i refused to go to the restroom because he was sitting by the entrance i leaned and to my friend i have to go to the restroom and my friend said well go and i said no cause prince is sitting right there and my friend said girl you better go to the restroom and quit tripping. after a couple of minutes i got up. i was scared i was going to fall down the ramp on the way to the restroom so i was looking at the floor. i looked up and tried to sneak a look at him and caught him looking dead at me. i look nothing like any of the women we see him with so i was very flattered to have him look at me those times. but you know what my friend that told me to go to the restroom said he almost fell on prince on his way out of the restroom. he said i could just see security getting ready to beat my ass. but prince didn't even know he was back there. ive got a million of them. i had so much fun at glam slam

Apart from seeing him live in Manchester last October, which is really gonna rank way above most experiences, Id say it was buying the crystal ball album.

Id never been a hardcore fan, id got many of his 80's albums and new the guy was a genius, but I didnt have a clue just how much good shit hed got hidden away. Hearing this album (with The Truth as well), i suddenly realised that he wasnt just a genius, he was like some divine force channeling all kinds of weird and wonderful music, every bit of which was there to be enjoyed.

It turned me from being a prince fan into an obsessed individual who spends his time pouring over a body of work which is just too damn large and too frigging good to comprehend.

Signing four lines of "The Ladder" into the same microphone with him at the Vegas ONA show, then reaching over and patting him on the arm to say "Thanks."

It was weird knowing that he was looking right at me, and the camera crews were a foot away from me on both sides of me.

I hope that DVD comes out soon (and I dont end up on the cutting room floor!)
