aint nuthin wrong with a man who takes care of himself. most men just pick off dirty clothes off their floors, throw on a tee shirt and scratch their balls... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't think most men do that. I think it depends on geographical locations. Most urban man will be dressed better, more varying styles. Suburban men mostly dress similar to one another. Rural men tend to be really simple and basic.
and they all still scratch their balls.

..and if you really believe that, 5 minutes spent in any local Walmart will prove that women are no better.
...and meterosexual men probably scratch their balls a lot more, they're shaved!

Co-Sign. Some of us know what is going on in the real world. In addtion, no one would get away with calling any of guys from those ethnic groups fancy lesbians without getting their lights punched out. Then you would see just how metrosexual those guys are

There is NO WAY Prince was meterosexual during the Dirty Mind era... he looked dirty, sweaty... and dipped in pubic hair!

lol, Not everyone is riddled with hatred like you are and would be able to take a joke. Your insinuation that every black man has a Black Panther hidden just below the surface is absurd.

yeah that was the akward hair era. but his afro and second cd look was adorable.

not akward. That look worked for the image of the album:Dirty Mind and it worked with the New Wave vibe. That look was totally New Wave

he wasn't the first metrosexual, but he's certainly the most notorious and most influential...
this man has inspired millions of metrosexuals around the world, me included... [Edited 12/17/10 11:11am] ![]()

Lotta confusion here about what constitutes a metrosexual... Hint: makeup, lace peekaboo slacks, and high heels aren't it.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
I never said anything about every black man having a hidden Black Panther. What is absurd is that you really do not believe that some of ethnic metrosexuals would punch out your lights if you came at them with the fancy lesbian bullshit. This is real and I am sorry that I choose to live in the real world and not some fantasy land where everyone is practicing polictical correctness and walking around holding hands and singing.
You need to get out more.

Where do you live? In a cave? In your husband's wine cellar? What kind of weird heteronormative crap do you champion there in your dark hole of oppression?

I really believe that Prince is the one who has launched this Metrosexual tendency, very early... Ppl were obviously not used to a man willing to take care of himself, to give himself a treat, to be aware and proud of his feminine side.. This kind of man couldn't be someone else than be considered a "gay".. In the middle of the 8o's ( 8 ease..ha ha Whereas through all the years, Prince has always been loyal to this style, His Style In one word to summarize: He is definetely a Metrosexual.
We make our own way to heaven everyday

yep, metrosexualism definitely reached mainstream acceptance in the mid-80s, with people/bands like Prince, A-ha, Duran Duran, etc. Prince was definitely the godfather of metrosexualism... in the 40s, a man using makeup would have been called a "perv", and probably killed... in the 50s, he would have been called a "fag*ot", and rejected by his community... in the 60s, a weirdo or "gay hippie"... in the 70s, a sad jerk who just wanted to be like Bowie or Jagger... in the 80s, it was finally cool. Purple Rain and Under the Cherry Moon are classic metrosexual films...

Metrosexual huh? So that must be what they are calling the flaming queens that are in denial these days. Andy is a four letter word.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Again you're confusing androgyny with metrosexual. The term 'metrosexual' wasn't even invented in the 80's.
Actually it was probably coined about 5 years ago, and pretty much dropped from people's vocabulary with the cancellation of 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.' So this thread is about 4 to 5 years late. [Edited 12/17/10 15:13pm]

doubt it, people in denial are trying to pass not stand out

You have no idea what metrosexual means, lol. It has nothing to do with being feminine and it has nothing to do with being a "sad" "gay" "jerk".

what world do you live in.? Urban men always have been know for taking care of themselves
the look Prince had in the 1980's especially Purple Rain Parade Lovesexy he got from the Victorian era of history where all the men wore ruffled shirts and make up of different degrees
Italian / Italian -American men have always been know for being stylish getting the hair down eyebrows shaped, jewelery, colors etc etc
as well as Hispanic mainly Cuban Puerto Rican and Dominican men
and African-American men

My wife called me a metrosexual and I damned near lost it!
"What?!" I said. "I am not a metrosexual!"
Her reply? "Honey, you're a step or two away from full fledged homo!"
Just because I exfoliate and moisturize??
Just because I like to take bubble baths in my Roman style tub?
Just because I walk into her nail salon and the girls argue over who's gonna give me my manicure?
Just because I smell better than she does and call my cologne perfume (a la Prince and Morris)?
Just because I have the same style of prescription eyeglasses in silver, black, and red...and match them according to my outfit?
Just because I watch Glee and Gossip Girl?
Well...I guess I am a metro.
FUCK THAT!!! Im a man, baby!!!
I just like to look, feel, and smell good.
Suddenly this is a crime?

Ummmm...wrong. Menswear during the Victorian period was not frilly. The clothing Prince wore during the Purple Rain era was modeled after the Regency Period (1780 - 1830) or even earlier. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

And you have showed us that you CAN'T read
1: I was SPECIFICALLY talking about MAKEUP. If you say that metrosexuals don't use it (at least, sporadically, or other similar-related products) , you're wrong again, and you're the one that have no idea what metrosexual means, LOL 2. I HAVEN'T said that being a metrosexual means that you're gay or a sad jerk, I've said that (random) people USUALLY use those insults to ridicule metrosexuals, speacially decades ago. So, you're wrong part. II
As I've said, read my post again, you need it ![]()
